Especially with Ayton being a good passer out of a double team, you got 3pt shooting champ on one end, mikal on the other and JJ cutting to the basket :droop: :droop: :droop:

I'm pretty sure this guy will be a very, very good role player, but what about his chances at becoming a real star? It wouldn't surprise me if he did. Lots of chefs in the kitchen though, with Booker, Jackson, and now Ayton.

I think he has star potential, he might not make the all star team but for a guy who will be our fourth option on offense he will be a great asset that can shoot and cut to the basket, he can be more than just 3 a pt threat with his athleticism. I could see a situation where he is one of those players that played into his role in college but gets into the NBA and shows he has a lot more to offer on the offensive end kind of like Booker. He could excel in a role like Klay with JJ being the draymond green type

Well, it depends on what you define as a star. Was Marion a star? He was an all-star, but I wouldn't call him a star. I feel like that's the kind of level Mikal could be at.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

I agree with you as far as level, but i'd consider Marion in the star category, he wasn't a superstar or franchise cornerstone, but he definitely was a house hold name with a couple all star appearances. To me its superstar>allstar>star

Or TJ cutting to the basket. TJ is deadly doing that.

Not sure if this was posted or not. It's from March but it talks about how dominant Mikal can be without having to dominate the ball. They also bring up that someone like Otto Porter (a fair comp for Mikal) gives the Wizard a total point differential of 11 while Wall and Beal only give a total differential of around 5. Wall and Beal are probably more talented than Porter, but that stat shows just how valuable a player like Porter (Mikal) can be.

I thought Bridges was a meh pick at first, but going through the stuff in this thread I'm really impressed. Could be a great fit on this roster. The fact he actually fixed his shot and it looks so good now is very encouraging.

In fact I'm liking the roster a lot now. Granted the the PG slot still needs work. Otherwise I feel its a matter of seeing if Kokoskov is the coach we hope he is and can bring this all together.

Here is what they said. Comparing to last year's draft. Markkanen's shooting with JJ's defense, but a superior athlete to both. Um. Yikes.

Same with Covington. He ranks extraordinarily high on RPM just because he is so valuable to have on the floor for 3D. Even a guy like Roberson in OKC is a huge difference maker for OKC and he can't even shoot. We desperately needed 3 pt shooting and defense so he will likely make a huge impact.

The more important thing is the depth we have. We will not drop off a bunch with our bench unit now because we have so much versatility. We should almost always have at least 2 but probably 3 really good players on the floor even when one or two of our best players sit.

What I want Mikal to be is someone who doesn't hesitate taking that 3pt shot. Like Klay.you give him a second look and he shoots it.. It really makes defenders panic which helps in creating lanes and space inside.

I think its pretty close. He is extremely fast. He is an excellent leaper. He is 6-7 with a 7-2 wingspan. JJ is 6-8 with a 6-10 wingspan. Mikal is a smarter JJ with an excellent jump shot. I do not know how there is any getting around that. Mikal is a year older, so JJ has one year to catch up with his shooting.

It seems that way, but JJ is a freak.... he's up there for sure, probably as quick as prime George, Lebron and just a tab below the Westbrooks...

He's 6'8 with agile quick feet and even arms...

Bridges is closer to a Thompson with 5-6 inches extra vertical.. and his 7'2 wingspan doesnt hurt his extensions during dunks

JJ is high BBIQ as well, so I wouldn't immediately put Mikal above in in feel. JJ is for sure a better athlete and one of the fastest players in the league. And JJ is better w the ball in his hands. Let's slow it down w the hype. There's a reason JJ was the number 4 in the first place.

The wingspan difference between JJ and bridges is 2" on each arm. Ive been assured multiple times that an extra 2" doesn't matter so i don't think thats much of an advantage.

I like mykal, im always a little weary of an older guard that doesn't have a great handle or creating abilities. I'll wait to see but with how much he's loved I'll be happy for the pick right now.
Best case is a bigger Klay, worst case is Wesley Johnson?

I question if he can improve as drastically as some of the 19 year olds do, but the way he built his game at Villanova and got better throughout the season inspired a lot of hope. He can be a poor man's Kawhi with much less offensive creation and skinnier. That is still really really good, albeit below the ceiling of similarly gifted but technically superior Josh Jackson. He can be a key wing and maybe split some minutes at small ball four, and I like having him. The question now is how we can upgrade this car's engine at point to get the ball to such amazing finishers as Book, Mikal, JJ, and ofc Ayton.

JJ’s BBIQ at the NBA level remains to be seen. You can’t jusge his high volume/low efficiency in a tanking season.
