It will probably take another 50 years to get #1 again, so I'm just going to assume we're picking sixth and take Romeo Langford, G, Indiana.

Zion looks like he is gonna have weight issues.

If he completely balloons up sure but I think his current weight is more of an advantage than a weakness. I've never seen a man his size move and jump like him.JMac1 wrote:Zion looks like he is gonna have weight issues.

That's tough for the average athlete. Money, women, and fame makes most lose discipline. I have no idea about him or his work ethic, but he looks like a natural born specimen and that scares me.

Re: 2019 Draft Discussion
The question I have with Zion is the question I have with all super athletes at the college level. How do you adjust when you get to the pros and that athleticism gap narrows because even for the super athletes they face other super athletes and you can't get by on just that. What gives me hope is he seems to have a good feel for the game and he seems to work on his craft. Now if he continues that and you add it to his natural gifts you could really have something.JMac1 wrote:If he completely balloons up sure but I think his current weight is more of an advantage than a weakness. Re: 2019 Draft Discussion
Here are a few really good defensive prospects to consider in the mid to late first round. And a few potential steals that might be had in the 2nd round assuming the suns acquire a 2nd rounder or two prior to the upcoming draft, through trade or otherwise.
First off we have Sagaba Konate: A 6'8-6'9 very strong athletic shot blocking Defensive power forward in the mold of Ben Wallace.
https://youtu.be/aIvkuXylreY . He's slated to fall around a pick in the 20s'.
Next we have Kostja Mushidi:a 6'5 point guard with a 7'0 wingspan, who is a really good defensive point guard with great leadership skills in the mold of Malcom Brogdan.
https://youtu.be/20xD__7XwNU .
Then, should we consider moving Ayton to the power forward spot. We could consider a big, powerful, bruising defensive center in the mold of Eddy Curry without the weight issues. He's 6'11 275 lbs. with a 7'7 wingspan.
https://youtu.be/x_wV7JCRuX4 .
He's a very powerful, and much more mobile than Eddy Curry ever was. And he could really help our shot blocking and rebounding woes potentially. most importantly, These prospects could bring much needed toughness to our roster with their aggressive defensive style of play, and constant hustle.
Anyone familiar with these prospects, or any thoughts on possible impact these prospects might have on our team, should they find themselves on our roster post draft?

Yeah, he's still learning to be a leader on the court, but talent is undeniable. Need to see him a bit more to judge, but i'm liking what i'm seeing so far. Pretty much. Could be the answer for us going forward.

Re: 2019 Draft Discussion
I'm kind of wondering.....Should we end up not getting the first pick zion williamson(most likely).
...and we end if with either barrett, or reddish...still a great consolation prize....Should we consider moving Ayton to the power forward spot and look to secure a defensive center?
What would be the most realistic draft prospects that we could obtain another pick for?
And who would be your top candidates for the 5 spot to help cover Aytons' defensive issues, Especially weak side shot blocking.
I personally would try and obtain one of these prospects if possible.
1- Bol Bol. A good defensive 7'2 center with a 7'8 wingspan I believe and a unique skillset with developing shooting.
2- Udoka Azuibuke, a power 6'11 275 lb. Bruising center to help play and wear down opposing teams big men(Steven adams) or even Embiid, while gobbling up rebounds, block shots and take up space. But most importantly, he would bring size, power, and much needed aggression and intimidation to our front court.
3- Or we could really take a project with enormous size in Tacko Fall, A 7'6 300 lb. Giant with a 8'0 wingspan to totally dominate the paint defensively, while allowing Ayton to dominate the 4 spot as a point forward in the style of Amare Stoudemire.
I really like that these players sans(bol bol) could be had at a very low cost as a 2nd round pick. If they pan out, then we have a steal!!...if not, no big loss as they're only a 2nd round project.
Any thoughts?

Newsflash: Ayton is not a 4. That was already established at the UofA.

Re: 2019 Draft Discussion
Bol Bol is interesting to watch. His offensive skill set seems a bit more developed than I thought coming into this year, and he's been a very good shot blocker. It'll be interesting to see how physical he is this season and how his frame fills out in the future.

Re: 2019 Draft Discussion
Too early. It can't be just about dominating people at the college level. Players need nba skills...passing, iq, shooting, defense.

Well, based on our 4 game example, I would be too. But I think a lot has to be determined, and most of it will come in conference play when they play more opponents that are near the caliber of Gonzaga.
As Suns fans we should know that just because you can dominate with athleticism or size in college, that in the NBA you need the IQ, defense and shooting to succeed...ability to be a playmaker a plus.

I was a skeptic going into the season. He has been better than expected in those areas, imo. Lot of season left, but I think he's a lock for #1.

RJ Barrett hero ball.

Re: 2019 Draft Discussion
Some scouts believe the No. 1 pick will come down to Williamson and Cam Reddish, not RJ Barrett.
