If he walked next summer they would be kind of screwed.Slim Charless wrote:WeekapaugGroove wrote:Tampering happens and it's not impossible but with so many parties involved (3 teams and an agent) it's running a real risk of the league coming down on folks if they believe this was prearranged.

All of that's true but it does help that him and Booker are boys and talk all the time I'm sure and probably have at least discussed playing together when Dlo becomes a FA you'd have to think. After looking at this again though everyone else is going to have a very hard time beating Boston's package if Ainge really wants to get this done. If we want in on the trade then 6th for Smart and hopefully a lower Boston pick might be our best bet. Course that depends on what New Orleans values more: 6th pick or Smart. Idk what their front office thinks but Smart and Jrue somewhat overlap, a high pick might lineup better with Zion.

THIS. This is not talked about enough. AD is in charge of his own destiny. Ainge will not give up big assets for a 1 year rental. Nor will any other team. The only way a AD trade works for ANY team is if AD signs long term. To my knowledge (so far), AD will play for 1) the Lakers, 2) the Lakers and 3) with Lebron. It is a one-horse race.
So maybe a 3-way with Boston and LA? NO gets Tatum, LA gets AD and Boston gets Ingram, Ball and filler? I don't know... Boston may just be OUT all together.
Great point Groove.
