Word of caution: he's gonna get guys the ball in advantageous positions all day; any athletic guy that can score is gonna look way better than he really is. You end up with Andrew Wiggins on a max contract that way.

Negatives: One thing i was really excited about wrt Indiana was some Eastern Time Zone.

Are you one of those player fans that follow a specific player from team to team? Why Rubio? Just curious.

Welcome to the board if you start posting more often while Rubio is here. :D

I mean, yes and no? I'm a timberwolves fan that fell in love with Ricky watching him play his heart out every single night for 6 years mostly on **** teams. In those six years, the Wolves were +355 with Ricky ON the court and -1585 with Ricky OFF the court, for perspective. He's a really fun player to watch on both ends of the court.

My late father was a high school girls basketball coach and so I grew up with an appreciation of players that are cerebral and do all the little things and that's Ricky to a T. He's great at all the little things and it's fun to watch him use his brain to compensate for his (glaring) limitations.

WILLING POST PASSER:

Image

The guard switches onto Favors. Not many guards will give up their own attack here (against Carmelo Anthony no less). Ricky kills time and sets up the optimal entry pass angle while dazzling the defense with activity (instead of just standing still looking like he's going to pass it in to the big). The entry pass is crisp and high and lets Favors lay it in before the help can respond. Just making simple plays putting his teammates in a place to succeed.

Have been adamant about how much I hated rubio and didnt want him, even I cant deny he is a good fit though. Maby he will be one of those guys that I absolutely hated before they actually put on a suns uni. Xavier McDaniel, Kurt Rambis, Ac Green, Danny Ainge, Cliff Robinso , Gonna have to give me a chance to soften on this guy but it's happened before.

Mmmh...

Aiyä!

Sorry being late.

I got lost in some transfer. Apparently, there aren't possible Metro subway train trajects from Spain (Catalonia) to MIN to UTAH to PHO... let alone if you take a fake detour to IND.

Image

But at the end, here I am, bandwagoning Arizona as if tomorrow never comes.

Yes!

He's good at it.

There was a play in the playoffs where he and Chris Paul ran into each other and each flew backwards like a nuclear blast happened right between them.

Ugh. ****.

The NBA constantly rewards flopping, so everyone knows that it is an skill. He is one of the best at that.

The biggest problem is gonna be his shooting and scoring ability. He is not good finishing at the rim, so everyone knows that he is trying to pass when going to the hole.

Watching Utah I understand why did not want him anymore, but on our team he is a clear upgrade over Melton and Okobo. We are a better team than yesterday.

I don't think Utah used him correctly. Too much off the ball and he looked like a totAlly different player in Utah than he did with the wolves

Correctly is a relative term and Utahs offense works for them but the motion offense definitely drove his assist numbers down.

Monty ran a lot of pick and roll with New Orleans so I'd expect the same and here so it's likely Rubio's assist numbers spike back up. I'm curious how much transition game they try, that's another thing Utah didn't do much but Rubio is good in the open floor.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I was Suns fan in the Kevin Johnson era.
And yeah I follow Ricky and I was Min/Utah fan during the time he was there :)

Maybe not great, but another thing he is better at than DLo....58.6% at the rim compared to DLos 55.2%

Hopefully he can turn us around like KJ did. Traded our best player that year bringing him in and somehow won 27 more games with the 2nd year guard, even without Larry Nance.

Gratitude... I've been saying it this last three seasons and still there are people unaware of how much he got himself better.

The Masnou GoldenBoy rised from being the worst NBA player at the rim to a comfortable over League average in less than two years.

In part, it's a matter of staying healthy.
Another part: he's perfectly aware about his frailties (he's not an idiot) and he works hard to make up for it.

You can translate this into his long-range shooting: he shot 3 better in UTA than he did in MIN (no idea about the numbers... I'm a visual sensations guy).
I'm pretty confident he will shot better at PHO than he did at UTA as well.

Salut, Jsbath.

As I said, happy to find known faces around here.

Just for you to know, Mr. Jsbath is from long time ago one of the most irreductible spanish PHO fans I know.

Please, don't you mislead him with some RR newbie bandwagoner (as myself).

Watching Rubio in the playoffs this year was painful.

The Rockets didn't even bother guarding him. They'd leave Rubio wide open. He had a solid 2 or 3 seconds to shoot at times with no one within 10 feet of him and some of his shots missed so badly that he didn't even hit the backboard (or any part of the basket).

Rubio can throw all the great passes he wants to Booker and Ayton, but it won't matter much when the PG guarding Rubio simply follows the pass, doubles Ayton/Booker and doesn't bother to recover if the ball goes back to Rubio since he can't shoot.

The crazy thing is shooting is the one basketball skill that requires no talent. It's all practice and muscle memory. Rubio would be an allstar if he was just an average shooter. You'd think he would have put the effort in to get better at it by now.

Sarver only signed him because he got him for a good deal and Sarver is so (Please Use More Appropriate Word) he probably thinks that the last white/foreign born/pass first PG he signed became a 2 time MVP, so surely Rubio will be next.

This cracked me up. I don't even know what that means.

Welcome to all new posters, sure hope you stay around for the season, even moreso to support Rubio after we inevitably start to blame him for not being a top seed in the West and you hear the "if only we ha DLo" arguments start to pop up (we all know this will happen)
