Assuming the Suns go 8-0, they need this many losses from each team:

Memphis: 2--3 Losses so far
Portland: 3--1 Loss
Pelicans: 3--2 Losses so far
Kings: 3--3 Loss so far
Spurs: 2--1 Loss

The Suns are 1 game out of 9th place! (And 3 games out of 8th place)

Alternate scenario:
If one of Portland, San Antonio or the Pelicans don't reach the required amount of losses - the Suns can still make the play-in game if:

Memphis: 7--3 Losses so far

Might want to add in an alternate scenario as well where Memphis drops to the 10th spot. Unfortunately Memphis holds the tie breaker so we have to win one more game than them.

One thing that sucks the most.....the two games that we really really blew this season and certainly should have won, were against the Spurs and the Blazers....we absolutely blew those..maybe with the refs helping. I think we had the ball and lead in 1 with less than the shot clock left...can't remember the other, but if we won those games, we'd be 31-37, one game back of Memphis, Portland would be 29-39 (before end of current Rockets game), but 2 games back of us now...1.5 if they win. SA would be 28-38, also 2 games back. We'd really be in the drivers seat for the spot with JJJ's injury, but certainly to participate in the play in. Less pressure to win them all.

This would be devastating to not make the playoffs simply because we didn't have a chance to play a single team in front of us.

The game vs Spurs in Mexico was a bad loss. Suns had that game won.

The losses against Golden State and Sacramento weren't great either.

Back to back killer losses, both without Booker.

The Suns were up 2 in both games with the other team having a shot to tie. Both times they hit an and-1. And San Antonio even missed the free throw and got the rebound to win!

One of those was a 100% win if not for a turnover on in-bounding the ball. What a costly turnover that may turn out to be.

Suns - 5 games remaining

9 more Suns wins + Grizzlies losses to clinch over Grizzlies (5 games remaining)
7 more Suns wins + Blazers losses to clinch over Blazers (5 games remaining)
6 more Suns wins + Pelicans losses to clinch over Pelicans (5 games remaining)
6 more Suns wins + Spurs losses to clinch over Spurs (5 games remaining)
5 more Suns wins + Kings losses to clinch over Kings (5 games remaining)

We need only 4 of these things to happen to finish 9th. No biggie.

Joe Ingles just hit back to back 3's to put Utah ahead of Memphis by 11 with 3 minutes to go...

I think our only chance is Memphis losing out to 10th seed, Portland getting 8th, and we sneak into 9th?

What happens then?

The Suns did have a chance to play teams ahead in the standings though. The Suns lost three times to the Grizzlies this season, and dropped two of three to the Spurs.

It's understandable to feel the Suns could use a bit of a do-over, because their record this season doesn't reflect their productivity level when healthy and together. But that's not how things work. In reality Ayton fumbled his way into an avoidable situation that cost him 25 games this season and that really hurt the team's chances in addition to the injuries various players suffered.

I'm just happy basking in the house money the Suns have earned since play resumed. It's unlikely to continue this way.

If we are 9th and within 4 games of the 8th seed (doesn't matter who it is) we are in the play-in tournament.

I could see the Griz going 0-8 which would definitely drop them to 10th or worse. If we go 8-0 I think we are a lock to make the play-in tournament. Otherwise, it looks like a Spurs/Portland series.

I've thought about this too. Now every team in the league has a few 'should have won' games but sure seems like the suns let a couple slip away that would have them right in this thing.

Nuggets lead the Spurs 103-97 with 7 min left. We desperately need the Spurs to lose today otherwise I see them finishing 8th or 9th.
