Time to clean house in a couple months. Front office, players, coaches. Start anew. Pay as much as it takes to get the best FO you can and let them do their thing. Always hoped Book would be a lifer on the Suns, but probably better for his career if he goes to a competent franchise while still in his prime.

He's a role player that needs a good system in place to earn his money.
Suns NEED to BLOW it up and start anew.

That was really the only shot we had at winning the championship with KD it's just too bad our roster was so thinned out that it took Herculean efforts by KD and Book to will this team to the 2nd round.
Teams have adjusted and gotten better while we haven't and we've gotten older and somehow even worse each season.

Seeking around $30 million per year.

This team has nothing to play for.
KD knows he is getting traded this summer.
Beal probably feels disrespect and does not care anymore
O'Neal and Allen know they are on the block
Guys like Plumlee, Jones, Morris are here for a year
And the supposed franchise guy Booker has no fight
Coach Bud is a championship coach, he is not here to develop young guys, he knows he is a goner.
Why would they give a ****?

The 2005-06 Suns will always have a special place in my heart

^True. The Phoenix Mercenaries. Not a real team so results are not that surprising.

Watching the game @ Rockets you understand why they are the perfectrade partner for the Suns.
It’s not only about getting our 2025/2027/2029 (two of them swaps) FRPs back, they have multiple young players with high potential that can't play big minutes for them.
Reed Sheppard is the first name that comes to my mind. He can the next Curry/Trae or he can be the next Fredette/Trey Burke...too early to say but I love his upside.
Sheppard didn't play because he was out with an small injury but the Rockets doesn't need him and they are probably too close to contend to develop him.
Whitmore is another young player that has shown that he belong to the league but is buried in the depth chart of the Rockets.
And then you have Jabari Smith Jr who has lost his starting PF spot to Amen Thompson. He is close to the end of his rookie contract and pretty sure that he wants to start on another team to get a huge raise in his 2nd contract.
Then you have Eason who looks a nice two-way Forward capable of defending multiple positions.
All those players (getting two or three of them) next to a salary filler + picks make the Rockets on paper the perfect trade partner for Book or KD.

Booker was having his "MJ" moment by having big shooting nights and in the zone... But unsustainable, because he is not a Superstar.

Re: 2024-25 Season Discussion and Speculation Part IV
Another interesting thing about the Rockets as a trade partner... Gambo said last week that for his conversations around the league he believes that they would prefer to trade Jalen Green over FVV or Dillon Brooks as a filler and big piece on potential trade involving the Suns.
Personally I think that info is probably outdated because Jalen Green has been killing it lately but I would like it if it's true.
Trading Jalen Green probably allow the Rockets to trade one less youngster to us, something like FVV + Whitmore or Jalen Green and they probably prefer to having some veterans and depth over Jalen Green.
IDK... it's gonna be important to see how they play in the playoffs.

As much as I appreciate Booker's one franchise loyalty/ mentality and consistent professionalism, this is why its completely illogical, and honestly low key disrespectful to him too for us to hold onto him and try to keep pushing the issue of trying to be competitive but only with low end results as an outcome.
We're only further destroying our future and long term viability as his trade value will exponentially decrease in this situation, but Also waste his best remaining prime years of potential legitimate contention.
And for what really? nothing more than to be a fringe/ late lottery treadmilling team never sniffing the playoffs again but being a perennial sub .500 punching bag for legitimate teams that built out correctly!
Too many people in bitter denial over what obviously needs to be done!
Trade KD to Houston for Sheppard/ Smith Jr/ Landale/ Whitmore/ PHX 25' and 27' 1sts.
And then trade Booker to Detroit for a richer package of Stewart/ Ivey/ Holland or Thompson/ Klintman/ 3 1sts ( 26, 28, 30 1sts). That way Booker can go home, and still have a great chance to contend in front of family and friends.
- Trade Allen for Bidatze.
- Trade O'neale for future 2nds.
And KD can then play for Udoka again and play alongside of the Houston players that he enjoys practicing with/ working out with every summer. And we get a very nice return package for the future of:
Sheppard/ Ivey/ Holland/ Smith Jr/ Richards.
Draft/ Whitmore/ Dunn/ Bol Bol/ Stewart.
Draft/ O'neale/ Klintman/ Ighodaro/ Landale.
- PHX 25 1st.
- CLE 25' 1st.
- DET 26' 1st.
- UTA 26' 2nd/ 26' 2nd (via NOP or POR).
- PHX 27' 1st.
- CLE 27' 1st.
- DET 28' 1st.
- CLE 29' 1st.
- DET' 30' 1st.
Now we'd have draft picks for every year into 2030, two firsts in 2025, two 1sts in 2027, two 2nds in 2026, and if necessary, could package those additional two picks in 25 and 27 with a couple players for a 2031' 1st as well?
We'd now have a ton of youth, highbend athleticism, physicality, length, upside trajectory and a ton of cap space/ flexibility and picks to sign or trade for great players that fit our roster properly and we actually could LEGITIMATELY compete again rather quickly within a few years if done correctly.

We had no shot at Denver. They blew us out in every game they won and we barely won those 2 games. KD trade doomed this franchise.

I'd be super depressed if I didn't have Knicks as my second team. Huge shot from Bridges. They're competitive every game. They fight even in losses. Suns are the antithesis.

A good question to ask (apart from Booker's frustration) would be how much of this should be attributed to Buds' system and how much to the players just cashing it in and going through the motions till the season ends? IF it's Buds' system neglecting defensive accountability in the interest of offensive saturation, and the players just aren't buying in, does firing Bud fix much of our defensive issues? And if so, What available coaches out there fit our needs with a strong defensive pedigree?

Not that it'd ever really happen, but how funny would it be if Vogel was willing to come back on the condition that Ishbia and Jones both give him a public apology and admit how wrong they were about him! That'd be pretty hilarious
