Bynum is way better than Shaq rightnow. quote]

Right now (and for at least the next 8 weeks) Bynum is somewhere nursing a bum knee. And as far as I know, it's pretty hard to play basketball from the couch, unless you're talking video games of course. But you're right, on NBA 2008 Bynum probably is better than Shaq right now.

I guess ur forgetting Shaq is on the bench resting his old hips rightnow

I think Kerr is nuts?

IMO Shaq will be lucky to get to the offensive end of the court before the Sun's offence lauches one... and if the other team decides to run too, the Suns will find themselves a man short on defence...Shaq will be out of gas in a couple of minutes... then what?

This trade makes zero sence for a run and gun team like the Suns and I'm sure coach DiAntoni is beside himself in disbelief that Kerr could destroy his team and his style of play this way!

UNREAL!

Shaq has 2 more years left on his contract.

Hence the fact that next year he will have 1 year left. You're not the sharpest tool in the shed are you?

No, Einstein, Shaq is under contract for THIS season (07-08), NEXT season (08-09) AND the following season (09-10).

The funny part is the Suns could face Dallas, then San Antonio first and lose and never even play the Lakers.

Who knows how the alignment will work out.

Shaq is 35 and ailing.

Will he motivated if he faces Dallas and San Antonio too?

Also, if you are 35 or older you got to know how are it is playing while you are injured. I see Shaq fouling people.

He will help in the post season if he is healthy but in terms of making the Suns go over the top I think he is more of a liability for most of the season.

This could drop the suns from 1st in the West down to 2 to 4th making it harder for them to get home court against the the other 3 teams.

A sacrifice with a big price.

But hey I give the owners credit for trying to win now instead of waiting around.

Congrats you guys just added an out of shape big man who can't even give his team 50 games a season, to a run and gun offense team. This trade was for his contract , there doing the kwame brown thing.

Laker Fan here and as much as I want to be scared of this trade, I actually like it as I think it impacts the Suns in a negative way. Shaq is slow, old, injured and his numbers are way down. No way Shaq retires early, he wants his $20mil a year and about the time he is done, Nash will be three years older...

Still I am looking forward to seeing a Lakers -Suns game.

A HUGE GAMBLE, looks like it was made in desperation...

I just want to let you suns fans know that I as a lakers fan think this could work out for you guys. 1st amare will not have to play center anymore he gets moved to his natural position PF. 2nd you will still be able to run, the lakers in the 80s were the best fast breaking team in the nba and they did it with a 40 year old center KAJ. If shaq can get kinda healthy u will win a lot of games because of the open shots he will give your shooters in the half court. Good luck and I just hope one of us gives the spurs a beat down!

I'm just shocked that Kerr didn't come away with a decent draft pick or Dorrel Wright or SOMETHING else of value that might blossom in a few years.... Everybody agrees that a 29-yr old Marion >>> 35-yr old Shaq. But dumping Marcus Banks's contract is not enough of a sweetener to balance this deal.

If we are going to trade Marion, could we at least get someone decent in return?

HUGE LAKER FAN,

As much I hate the Suns, this is a very good pick up for you guys. You guy's just made the team that much better, with a very strong and dominant center. The only negative thing about the deal is it's kind of long term deal.

But, besides that congratulation to you guys. I think come playoff time when the teams start playing slower tempo you guys would be very strong.

Most of my friends see no harm in this deal, but trust me when Shaq comes out to play there is no one in the league that can stop him.

Again nice pick up

P.S. I would not want to see you guys in the playoffs until the Western finals.

How does a guy with a hip problem and sitting out 6 games pass a physical?

Why the Suns traded their best permiter defender for an aging Shaq is unbelievable. Sure Marion may have opted out and he could have left for nothing but why not take a shot at a title now with a team that has the best record in the West. Enjoy the pick and roll because teams are going to run it against the Suns night in and night out. Shaq was not good at stopping the pick and roll when he was healthy and young. Nash has never been known for stopping a penatrating pg.

**** you Steve Kerr.

This only strengthened my belief that all this team cares about is SELLING JERSEYS AND SELLING TICKETS. Not about winning. Not about 'teamwork'. What bigger character is there than Shaq to sell?

We'll make it to the WCF off the heart and strain of Steve Nash, Raja Bell, and Amare Stoudemire, and Grant Hill, and then we'll lose. Like we always do.

But at least we lost with OUR team, OUR way, even if the league was doing everything possible to see the Spurs win.

Shaq can't rebound, can't run, can't jump. Excellent move Mr. Riley.

[quote="Cash"]Wow, what a great deal for the Suns!! Finally, the 36-year-old, injured, immobile, fat, fat, fat center we've been looking for!

Ollie Miller wasn't available ....

But seriously, I think it's a reasoned move. Shawn isn't happy, even though he's been professional about it, there's the opt-out/extension problem with him, and much as I love this team I don't see them winning it all as presently constituted. I would have preferred a younger, healthier and more ... fit guy but watching a few Miami games this year I marvelled at how Shaq-like he still is.
As someone else said, it's a risk but not as much as standing pat.
Let's hope the Atl pick is what we hope it is, and they don't sell it.
Maybe DJ and Lando will get some minutes

Return to Phoenix Suns
