how did they ruin his value? teams were trying to "Gasol" the Suns - not even Gasol - they were giving crap. i am glad the Suns thought of Amare has an asset to make a basketball move and not just crap

They didn't ruin his value per se. But here we go:

1) They didn't take the Cleveland offer, so they're out
2) By letting Cleveland walk away from negotiations, the Suns lost all their leverage against the Heat, who now have no competition for Amare and can say "Here, take this crap offer or let him walk and we'll sign him in the offseason, since he wants to come here so badly"
3) They didn't continue extension negotiations and pissed off Amare, so now he isn't likely to want to do a sign-and-trade or re-sign with the Suns

They didn't sign Amare to Gasol money, which is below market price but wanted to low ball him!

So I'm guessing Kerr was holding out as leverage and wanted any Ama're deal to be sweetened. But then none of the other gms didn't want to flinch thinking Kerr is vulnerable.

hmm wtf is going on!!!

Amare said, "I haven't been told anything at all so I'm just sitting and waiting." Still think there's a 50-50 chance of a trade.

Traxxe wrote:Amare staying in Phoenix suprises everyone. Everyone close to the team. Everyone in the media. No one expected Amare not to be traded. Even the people closest to this situation are bewildered. Information is a completely fallable industry. There are cases to be made that EVERYONE involved in this is full of it. ESPN, AZ reporters, myself... all got it wrong.

I never said Amare was going to Cleveland but that was the preferred offer on the table. I had no way ofknowing Kerr ultimately says no.

Apparently Cavs gave Suns take it or leave it offer and the Suns wanted to drag it on further so the Cavs pulled their offer. They didn't want this to turn out like last year.

sarver tried to play ferry's game and tried to get the same leverage ferry got out of washington but riley isn't a moron so kerr failed at his own game and now amare might leave in the offseason for nothing if we don't resign him.

For better or worse, I'm glad Amare isn't going to CLE...partially because of the package offered, partially because we'd be giving them a championship, but mostly because I still don't want to see Amare leave. I'm still not convinced he's still here after the trade deadline, but I'm holding out hope we can extend him and keep him.

I really think Amare's just going to bounce to Miami this summer.

That'd be funny if 7 seperate threads and over 10,0000 total posts all ended up being for naught if Amare doesn't get traded.

quick thought - amare feels rejected by the suns for trying to move him, however this is kerrs last year, perhaps he would consider re-signing if all the teammates got around him and also a new GM reaffirmed our belief in him?

Suns/Sixers deal would be interesting. Amare would have to agree to an extension with philadelphia I'm assuming. Iguodala and Dalembert I'm assuming. I'd prefer Iguodala and Speights.

Don't see Amare doing so, but Philly may still make the trade to get rid of Dalembert's contract.

From ESPN's Chad Ford:

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_ ... -for-amare

Now that the Cleveland Cavaliers have made their big trade all eyes turn to Phoenix to see what the Suns will do with Amare Stoudemire.

Two sources told ESPN.com that the Suns called the Cavs this afternoon and told them they had decided against sending Amare to Cleveland. A few hours later the Cavs had completed a deal for Antawn Jamison.

That leaves the Miami Heat as the only known suitor for Amare. One source close to the process disputed what a Suns source told me earlier today about Miami's reluctance to give up draft picks for Amare. The Heat own the Raptors' and their own first-round draft picks this year.

"The Heat have offered a pick," the source said. "I think this comes down to, will they offer their second first-rounder as well?"

If the Suns balk at making a deal with Miami, chances are they're keeping Amare. The only other potential suitor may be the Chicago Bulls. A source said the Bulls expressed interest in Amare earlier in the week, but they've been quiet on the Amare front since then.

If the Suns can't make a trade before Thursday's deadline, expect Amare to be unhappy.

"He's going to be upset," one source familiar with the process told ESPN.com. "He's been reading his names in the headlines every day. He's been wooed by Dwyane Wade and LeBron. It's time to move on."
