how did they ruin his value? teams were trying to "Gasol" the Suns - not even Gasol - they were giving crap. i am glad the Suns thought of Amare has an asset to make a basketball move and not just crap
They didn't ruin his value per se. But here we go:
1) They didn't take the Cleveland offer, so they're out
2) By letting Cleveland walk away from negotiations, the Suns lost all their leverage against the Heat, who now have no competition for Amare and can say "Here, take this crap offer or let him walk and we'll sign him in the offseason, since he wants to come here so badly"
3) They didn't continue extension negotiations and pissed off Amare, so now he isn't likely to want to do a sign-and-trade or re-sign with the Suns
They didn't sign Amare to Gasol money, which is below market price but wanted to low ball him!
