If you’re a tweener you have to be a very good shooter (Gordon is career 32% 3pt shooter) or a Draymond Green type all time great defender to be successful in the league. Otherwise you’re just a better version of a Torrey Craig or a Derrick Jones Jr type player.
Denver giving Gordon that 4 yr $92 million extension last fall is also just incredibly dumb considering his durability and fit alongside Jokic.
Nuggets used to have a top notch FO in terms of drafting guys but they have given out some horrific contracts to guys like MPJ and Gordon.
Well then I dont know what to say other than he is who he is - an athletic, versatile defender who can guard multiple positions and not get exploited on the switch. Not an amazing defender or anything but certainly passable and at worst average, and on offense a solid finisher with bad shooting.
Contract extension is terrible but if he was paid his actual value there's nothing wrong with him as a rotation guy. Again the tweener thing is pretty irrelevant. A better version of Torrey Craig is a rotation player on basically every team in the league.
