Motiejunas
Is in the same situation as Marcus Morris last year. Hes not getting minutes he would pull the same value as Marcus a 2nd round pick.

People who would give up Frye for him are just terrible decision makers.

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

When I was sending Frye to Houston I was rerouting Asik to Portland for McCollum and parts.
If I were dealing with Houston straight up I'd ask for Mottie, Terrence Jones (who I like), and Greg Smith (who I really really like.) Maybe even ask for Brooks as a Bledsoe fill in, he's better than Ish and Barbs right now.

Suns - Lakers trade pick for pick, plus Suns take back a contract.

Suns trade their 2015 Lakers 1st round pick (top 5 protected) back to the Lakers.

Lakers trade their 2014 1st round pick (top 5 protected) to the Suns. Currently Lakers are sitting with the 9th pick and playing worse as time goes on. I'm predicting they end up with the 6-10th worst record in the league.

Why would Lakers make this trade? Don't they want a chance at a decent lottery pick? Answer = no......... Lakers are more interested in rebuilding around Kobe for one last run (long shot) at a ring. They would rather shed salary and sign free agents like Melo or Love than get talent through the draft.

So in order to make this deal happen and give Phoenix a chance at a high lottery pick the Suns would have to take back a bad contract from LA.

Final trade

Suns trade: Lakers 2015 1st round pick (top 5 protected)
Suns receive: Lakers 2014 1st round pick (top 5 protected), Steve Nash ($9M this year, $9.7M expiring next year)

Why Lakers do this is to free up salary to pursue big name free agents next year.

Why Suns do this is to acquire a high pick this year. Normally they would never take back Nash (just coming back from injury) but he could come off the bench and take Bledsoe's place while he is out recovering from knee surgery. Suns could buy out Nash next year, or he could be traded again, or he might retire saving the Suns his salary.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe I would do it for Terrence Jones, because I like him, but I checked his 3 pt shooting and it is below 30%, so it wouldn't currently work well. He does do tons of other things, getting blocks and steals, is active, and would fit in with our young group very well. I'm sure he could improve his 3 pt shot too. Frye never really shot 3 pointers until he became a Sun, and his first four years in the league never did better than 33%.

For this fake trade, yes I would. Lakers are horrible and their pick this year will be very good. They aren't going to give us that pick out of the goodness of their heart. They will make it hurt to get their pick, that's why I have us taking back Nash, who would be an expiring next year. I really don't give 2 hoots about Nash, I'm just trying to get the pick.

And if the Lakers end up in the top 5, then what? We eat the Nash contract? No thank you.

You are right, that would be a concern. Maybe change protections to top 3? Cap space is an asset to be utilized to make the team better, if you can take on a bad short term contract to get an asset you do it. Nash is expiring next year and could be included (with picks) in a bigger trade.

I wouldn't even do it top 3 protected. Unprotected or gtfo. That's a lot of money to take on. Still pick swapping for all that money? Idk that it makes any sense.

Agreed, unprotected or gtfo would be ideal. To my way of thinking, the money is only a concern if it intrudes on your ability to do a bigger, more impactful deal. If McD had something big up his sleeve, then of course you wouldn't do this. However if we are just letting our unused cap space sit there year after year not being used, might as well try to get something out of it.

After the hawks fiasco (top 3 pick protected)...

I would only trade for that lakers 2014 pick if it doesn't have protection.

The Lakers tried to trade Pau for Bynum.
Why would we do that trade?

If they pulled that crap on the suns they would trade Pau for a bag of peanuts to ensure they got the 2014 and 2015 pick. While also dumping Nash & Pau lmfao.

I don't think the Lakers or Suns would do it. The Lakers know they may have a good chance at a MAJOR future piece this year, and next year they will expect to be good enough to make the playoffs (whether that is realistic is debatable, and probably it isn't realistic, but that's beside the point).

And for us, our cap flexibility is the reason we got Bledsoe, and is a reason we could pull something again this offseason. Why would we destroy our cap space by taking on Nash for a pick that was protected anyway? Sure I'd like to have a high pick, but our front office is not taking on $18 million for a chance at a 6-10 pick, while giving up another pick that could be just as good.

Okafor/Indy-1st for Nash/unprotected-1st

Then Nash does us a solid and retires. :)

New plan:
- rest Bled for the remainder of the season
- finish with a bottom 10 record
- trade all our picks for a top 5 pick
- draft Julius Randle
- sign Hayward in free agency
- watch the excellence unfold

Bledsoe/Dragić/Hayward/Randle/Plumlee
2+2=5

I'm afraid Z-bo would still be killing that lineup

Julius Randle is a more athletic version of Z-Bo, imo.

It would be terrific if McD again do his magic and move up around 5th slot in the draft (Parker, Embiid and Wiggins will be picked before Randle, maybe even Smart and Exum too).

I highly doubt any team would entertain trading out of the top 5 this year. There's no LeBron but there's going to be some really good guys drafted in the top half of the lottery. Embiid, Randle, Parker, Wiggins, Exum, or Smart is your prize so would you move either of them for a few picks 14 and lower?

Not a fan of throwing away a season and consolidating picks into what could turn into the next Thomas Robinson. But no one will trade out anyway for lower first round picks.

This article is BS: http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/533953/2 ... tLvHaXC-8o, but after reading it I thought maybe Joakim Noah would be a good guy to go after. We could offer the Morri, Len and Minnesota's 1st rounder for him. The Bulls are probably looking to tank and clear cap space after the Deng deal and Noah seemed disgruntled that they traded Deng.
