Suns players picking 20 for whatever reason underperform. Hope it's not the case here.

I don't even think the 2nds are necessary for the Blazers. They are going to want to start Sharpe, Avdija, and Toumani at the SG, SF, PF spot. I imagine Jrue Holiday and Clingan are the remaining starters. Grant is going to have come off the bench and I imagine he wouldn't be happy about that as he's been mostly starting for most of his career. Getting rid of Grant for anything of value I think would be a homerun for the Blazers.

OK... but Allen/Royce/Richards are "anything of value"?

I would do it, no doubt about it.

They are used to coming off the bench and likely won't create any type of animosity or team chemistry issues. Perhaps Grant doesn't mind coming off the bench, but perhaps the Blazers don't want a player that is getting paid $32 million to come off the bench. I mean... they just bought out DA because they didn't want him to come off the bench making $36 million.

Grant also had a very poor season dropping his 21 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.8 assist shooting 45/40/82 in the 2023-24 season to 14.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.1 assist shooting 37/36/85 in the 2024-25 season. He is 31 years old, so I actually think the Blazers would accept this type of deal in an instant. Probably better for the Suns to not make this type of deal

For these roster, we still have to balance it. We have about 8647 shooting guards. Got to move either O’Neal or Allen

Don’t know what the return for Allen or O’Neal will be but I think it could be a win-win if done correctly.

The Jazz would have been perfect partner and maybe still are but not sure if they need an Allen or O’Neal.

A lot of young untested guys at SF/PF other than O’Neale. Hayes-Davis could be a wildcard until the youngster develop (Dunn, Ighodaro, Fleming)

Dunn and Ighodaro have big flaws in free throws and shooting. They are in no way locked in for a starting or backup role.

After waiving Beal the next important acquisition
Needs to be a point guard.

edit: even after signing Brea as a two-way, keeping Allen is critical. PG is still the most important need if you retain O’Neale and Allen.

Totally agree on Oso and Dunn. I don’t see a long term future with Oso. He excels at nothing. He’s not a good shooter, he’s ok on defense, he’s not a good rebounder, he’s not a good shot blocker, can’t shoot. At least Dunn excels on defense. Oso is a career g-Leaguer I’m afraid.

I think they need to stay below the tax. With a buyout it looks like they're barely under the tax enough to sign a vet minimum so not sure about MLE. They also could make other cost-cutting moves now or in-season to be under by the end of the season but tying up all this money to NOT get below the tax line would be...not good lol.

Exactly! If Ishbia decided to go above apron levels that would be defeating the purpose of getting below apron levels. The Suns are going to have to take some pain. Plus, there is not a player for the MLE that will be worth going above apron levels. That would be just doing something to do something
