If our concussion process is best practice and he passes it is there any argument to keep him out further?

Next time he gets another knock I'm not sure leaving him out for a week in November will have any benefit.

Some of you guys may know me as the guy who originally brought RIP GIRLFRIEND to these boards.

I've been watching basketball since 1988. I've watched probably as much basketball as anyone on these boards over the last thirty years.

If you read my posts my "gig" is somewhat negative. Normally, I'm criticizing overrated players (Westbrook) or harshly criticizing total busts (Dennis Smith Jr). Or downplaying the significance of any player who can't shoot or defend for their position very well (TJ WARREN!)

I grew up a Duke fan and attended NC State so I've seen ~90% of all Duke, NC State, and UNC games over the last 30 years. On top of that I'm an NBA JUNKIE and was a sports gambling degenerate from 2001-2016. I've seen a LOT of basketball. I can't quantify it. I fall asleep listening to games, podcasts, video breakdowns, etc... it's just how i live life

Here are a few things I'd like to note about TJ Warren:

1) TJ Warren was virtually an unheralded recruit coming into his junior year. He improved more than most coaches/recruiting analysts had ever seen a player do between his Jr/sr year of high school
2) TJ was offered a scholarship and HIGHLY recruited by UNC. He turned them down (and their illegal recruiting $$$) because he decided he'd "rather beat them".
3) Despite being a MCD AA, TJ was a virtual afterthought his freshman year coming in and was forced to defer to failed 5* prep to pros CJ Leslie and Lorenzo Brown. TJ proceeded to shoot 62% FG to lead the ACC and 52% from 3's as a 12 ppg guy off the bench. 62% was the 2nd best in NC State history. Amongst their ~100 year history. He was 19.
4) As a sophomore TJ decided to shoot a little more often. He doubled his scoring avg to 25ppg. And he led the ACC in field goal percentage AGAIN. The only guys to ever lead the ACC in scoring and FG% prior played in the 1950s...
5) In the NBA TJ scored 6.1 ppg his rookie year, added 4.9 his sophomore year, added 3.4 his third year, and thus far 2.6 his fourth year... does he appear to be slowing down?
6) TJ Warren is currently shooting 13% from downtown.
7) TJ Warren is currently shooting 44% from 16-23 ft
8) TJ Warren is currently shooting 43% from 10-16 ft.
9) Those midrange numbers are extremely strong relative to other NBA players.

10) I will leave this up to you. TJ Warren has consistently outperformed offseason expectations for the last Seven basketball seasons. Would you really bet against him developing a 3 point shot? Would you bet against him averaging 20 ppg? Would you bet against him being one of the most devastating off the ball scorers for the next half decade?

Great post. I have followed TJ since Garner Road/Riverside/Word of God/ Brewster etc. I am an ACC die hard like yourself. I wouldn't bet against him.

Quick note. I thought the only 3 to lead the league in FG% and scoring were TJ, Tim Duncan, and Horace Grant. I could be wrong. Go Suns!

TLDR: More 3 point shooting practice, less dick tattoo stories.

No need for personal attacks. There are plenty of premature judgments and strange opinions.

LOL. I totally made up the 1950's thing. I actually tried to figure out the other 2 guys but I couldn't find them. I thought it was art heyman and len chappell but they must hold some other distinction. I wondered if anyone would call me out on that fact.

If only he had 3pt shot. That's the one thing that keeps him from being amazing scorer.

And consistency so far but hopefully fixes both.

If Warren develops a 3, he is a legit 23 point scorer a game on good efficiency. I hold my breath every time Warren hits the floor though, I'm not sure if he'll get back up. Also, check out his emotional response after his dunk around 1:40 in that video up above. He's breaking out of his shell. :D

He is SO GOOD at the mid-range game, transition, finishing around the rim and putbacks that I think he does not even need a solid 3pt shot to become a great scorer.

TJ is already a 20 ppg scorer in this league and he is improving his game...he just needs to stay healthy.

We have an amazing trio on the wings with Booker, Warren and Jackson.
Really happy with them, perfect combination.

I love them too but I'm not sure about perfect combination.

He's gotta be the most low-key 20ppg scorer in the league.

He just needs to go and train with whoever fixed Kawhi's 3pt shot.

Warren has a decent mid range jumper so his 3pt shooting really should be much better than the 10% that he's shooting currently.

I just want him to become a .35 shooter in corner 3's. (.318 right now - career numbers)

Follow the DeMar's route (career .38+ in corner 3's)
Just be confident enough to hit the open shot, dont force it at all.
