If Harris is as good as advertise (and only 22) why aren't the magic looking to resign him?

I'm sure they are. I don't know why everyone is talking about him. It's not like we are going to get the guy.

Re: Official Trade Thread: The Block Is Hot!!
Tobias Harris can be had, if Magic arent happy to pay him near max.
They don’t want to lose him for nothing also.
Personally, I think Harris is worth a gamble… offer Morris twins and Thomas…. See if Magic accepts.
They have Aaron Gordon waiting on the wings as their SF and having Thomas off the bench can help them get some wins whilst having a young team.

gambo just said the Suns did indeed offer the Frye a three year deal.

I don't think it was ever in question that we wanted Frye back so an offer would've definitely been made. The offer would likely have been fair, somewhere around $5-6m mark

Why gut our team, for a guy we might have to do the Bledsoe wait and see summer with again? F*ck it, let's trade Goran, Bledsoe, and IT for him. People keep selling our guys short, and forgetting that McD doesn't do stupid trades.

Because he's worth it? He's 22 & shows "star potential". The Suns are reportedly looking to trade it's "trade assets" for a "star".
Sounds like a perfect fit to me.
He's a RFA, he ain't going no where as long as team is willing to pay up. Sure he might want to play for his home team just like almost every superstar in the NBA today but too bad, they'll pick money over home all day every day when their fresh off that cheap rookie deal.

Most Magic fans want him back but Vaughn doesn't seem to like him much and the fit with him and Oladipo together has been questioned.
Most importantly, Orlando doesn't want to pay him big $$ when their still so far from being a playoff team.
Harris isn't perfect, he has plenty of flaws as well. Not the best defender, not a good playmaker, etc. But he's 22, I think those type of things can be fixed.

Well Vaughn got fired today, so we'll have to wait what happens now I guess.

I'm for the strategy of targetting 4th year rookies that show All-Star potential. Similar to the Bledsoe, Hayward type.
But one risk is that you only get 3 shots and have to hit them all. You can only have 3 x 15m players on your team. If you miss you're stuck with Eric Gordon, untradable and clogs up the rebuild for 4 years.
So I would only use the term 'gutting the team' if you made the wrong choice on who you spent it on, if you get the right guy it's a superstar GM move.
History shows that you need a guy you drafted to be one of your big 3, so you decrease the difficulty in acquiring stars. Acquiring 2 is possible, 3 hasn't really been done.

He said something to the affect that it was comparable to the magic deal but one year less. So yeah your close. Frye took the longer deal and obviously more money.
Anyway it's history now

Gutting the team is trading 40 points from rotational players (one we drafted who is finally coming into his own), for a 17 point tweener. Moreover, we have no other backup fours besides Wright. We signed up the Morris twins for a few million less than what Harris wants to sign for, who are both fourth year rookies.
MkMo's stats are close to Harris and fills a position we need. Harris isn't a better defender than Tucker, so I don't see the point in giving away three rotational players that give almost half our points for a guy scoring two points more than one going out.
And we don't even know if we won't pay an arm and a leg for a guy, who may or may not be better than a guy we signed for half of that.
If we trade for Harris, in no way do we give up three rotational players. We'd have to be getting back a power forward in the deal.
McD would never go for that trade.

Re: Official Trade Thread: The Block Is Hot!!
Hey guys, just came across the thread because I was quoted re: a post I made about Goodwin in our trade thread.
In regards to trading Rose, I wouldn't bother thinking about it for you guys. You'll see a lot of people on our board getting frustrated with his play and offering to trade him left, right and centre but ultimately, he's staying on the team for a variety of reasons, and we just have to have our fingers crossed he keeps improving. For what it's worth, I don't think he's a great fit next to Bledsoe, either.
Also, how good is Goodwin? I expressed that I'm a big fan, but obviously you've watched more of his game than I have. How would he fair in a starting role, for instance?
The other thing is I could see Dragic for Gibson happening for both our teams, but with Dragic potentially just being a rental, I think it's too risky for us. In theory, it's a great trade though for both sides, I think.

Because Tobias Harris could be the next Harden. 17/8 is great numbers for a 22 year old.
He really could be the next star.
