LEGENDARY
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

It’s pretty crazy how Booker is having this much playoff success in just his first ever time in the playoffs. He’s literally playing as if he’s been here his whole life and this is nothing different.

I know guys like Murray and Mitchell played really well in their debuts in last year’s playoffs too but Booker isn’t doing this in disney world at the mickey mouse arena. He’s doing it in actual NBA arenas at home and on the road with fans screaming at the top of their lungs in the stands.

Not trying to look too much into the future but if Booker is doing this well in his first playoff run at the age of just 24, it’s crazy to think how much better he will be with even more playoff experience.

Devin Booker’s improvement as a pull-up three-point shooter in the playoffs has added a new element to his scoring repertoire:

Regular season = 30.8% on 2.8 3PA
Playoffs = 35.3% on 4.6 3PA

If Booker eventually masters pull-up 3s, he’s going to become a truly unstoppable scorer.

Thats the one part of his game that keeps him around Donavon Mitchell's level. If he knocked down 1 more three per game he would be crazy

Booker has been really solid defensively. He's not some guy you can just expect to blow by or post up with little effort.

Numbers can be very mis-leading. Paul George was gassed. I don't see Booker's defense bother him much to be honest.

Not to mention, 10-22 is actually decent, especially when he shoots a lot of 3s.

Plus, teams have off shooting nights. Any Clipper would be great last night looking at __________ held Booker/CP3/Crowder/Payne to 25% or worse shooting...many shots were open misses anyway.

Booker looks good sometimes one on one. That's more than we could have used to have said. But no analyst outside of maybe Suns fans will say he's a plus defender, even if some tv guys might say he's a good defender (because they are likely thinking relatively speaking in comparison to how he used to be).

He still gets lost all the time, cheats off way too much, doesn't notice when his guy moves when he is cheating, etc. If he is engaged one on one on someone or is mad and tries a chase down block, he can suddenly look like he is a good defender and IS good in those situations on occasion.

Yeah i wouldn't read too much into those numbers, especially when the eye test seems to suggest otherwise. But I think the key takeaway is more that Booker has considerably upped his effort and impact on defense. PG hitting shots over Book doesn't take away from that increased effort as PG is still an all-NBA level player.

Yeah, Booker has improved his defense alot, But he's really not going to bother a player like George at his size. Bridges I believe had him shooting around 26%

But that's because overall Bridges is a much better defender than Booker, So that's a factor. But nobody is going to really shut a superstar player like George down either.

Book is an average defender but improved a lot in the last 2-3 years. He is not a bad defender by any means. If he wants to be elite and close to Kobe someday, he needs to improve his defence a lot. But as mentioned before, Book does not have Kobe`s athleticism to be able to do what Kobe did both on defence and offence.

It's going to take awhile for Book to get to be a plus defender. He's average, though much improved. Which is fine. He gets picked on because he's our offensive star so it help to get him in foul trouble or wear him out, and because our starting lineup is very good defensively. You can't pick on Ayton or Bridges. Paul and Crowder are both still really good defenders. Book is the obvious target.

Let's be honest guys, two seasons ago we would be ecstatic if Booker wasn't a complete turnstile and was just a bit below average. Now he's basically there now if not a little better. The guy has made real progress towards being an NBA level defender

Yeah, although his on/off defense here isn't really better than the last couple years, his box raptor and overall are significantly better than any year. Probably the only reason on/off isn't better than last couple is because we have a very good defensive team overall so even though he has improved, when he's not on the floor, we are still even better defensively.

Check out the change in overall def RAPTOR
