I don't know, I think I'd be very impressed if Honacek could bring Markieff from the dark side. :o

Jeff Hornacek believes relationship with Markieff Morris can be fixed, plans on keeping him in Phoenix.

If the Suns truly believe this and it is not just pure fodder to drive up his trade value, then I have lost all respect for the entire organization. The thought of Markieff still being in a Suns uniform come this season is crushing to my love for the Suns. Idk what else to say. I would legitimately lose whatever hope I still have for the team when I finally started to think maybe they were turning the corner. I seriously have a hard time thinking about my favorite team doing this.

What did you expect him to say? He needs to say that publicly, that is all.

Markieff still ranting about FOE a few hours after he gets fined. He also took away his profile description that said he was the power forward for the Suns and all it says now is #PhillyMade #TeamFOE. I hope this situation gets resolved soon.

Quoted from what I posted on the Kieff thread:

NavLDO wrote:Fantastic! Well deserved! Now, let's see if it's really #FOE--if it is, this $10K won't matter, and he'll keep publicly making trade demands.

Someone who's a fan on this site, who has twitter, please relay that sentiment to Kieff. Something like:

"If it's truly #FOE, you better continue with your public trade demands--$10K or Marcus, which is more important, Kieff?"

Has anyone posted something like this to Kieff, or something with similar meaning? It appears from what I've read over the past page or so, that he's still dumb enough to actually continue with this non-sense, and if this is like the NFL, these fines go to charities, right? I'd love for Kieff to continue to make 'charitable contributions' to those in need!!

Well, it's entirely possible that the Rockets selected Harrell, with trading him in mind from the get-go. Harrell was definitely the highest rated player left on the board when he was selected 32nd; he was graded-out as a late-teens/early-20s prospect. And with Paul as his agent, he may be more difficult to move than first imagined. But once he signs, a hard-cap is imposed, supposedly, thus making their financial situation for the rest of the season 'un-flexible'.

I would love, love, love to have Harrell, but find it difficult to make a trade work with the Rockets--a 3rd team would likely need to be involved, but we could do this:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=n9pq7h6

Ariza/Harrell for Kieff/2016 (Top 5 protected) and 2019 (Lotto Protected)--would still leave us with 1st Rd picks those years via other trades (Cavs/Heat). Many here say that the Rockets would not trade Ariza, though, so even with a very lucrative draft pick package, we may still not be able to get it done.

It's a smart thing to say, because if other teams knew we were resigned to trading him, their offers wouldn't be as good. I think Markieff likes his teammates and coach, so I doubt he'd want to do anything to piss them off.

I think once he is separated from his brother, he will be much better.

I'm not saying I want to keep him, but I still think there is a good chance we at least keep him until the deadline.

SHOTS FIRED BY HORNACEK! Love it.

Wait wut? Was this a quote from Hornacek, aimed at the Keef situation? If not aimed at Keef, I wonder what else needs to be taken care of?

Paul Coro tweeted that it was about Markieff.

Here it is:

Jeff Hornacek: "We've got one little thing we've got to take care of, hopefully." #Keefbeef

I do like the fact that Horny thinks everything else is in order. The rest of the team has been playing together long before any of the other teams got together. Some teams are early reporting right now, and they are excited about it. This team, sans Kieff, has been playing pick up games for two weeks.

Can't wait for the season. I will try to ignore the Kieff situation. Don't know if there is anything further to talk about until he repents or is traded.

I like the idea of adding pieces to Markieff, but for someone who improves the team, that's why you add pieces, not for a 30 year old average starter.

“It’s a case of hopefully he can get here and we can all talk to him,” Hornacek said. “I think, once he gets here with the players, maybe the players can help with that regard and realize that probably, like anything else, it happens when you might not be happy with the organization. But you’re a professional. You go out there and play as hard as you can. Really, when you get out there and start playing games, you’re not playing for the organization. You’re probably not even playing for your coaches. You’re playing for yourself and your teammates because that’s the bond those guys have as players. Once he gets playing with these guys, I think he’ll be OK.”

“I know Markieff,” Hornacek said. “I know that when he gets here and starts playing, he’s a competitor and he’s going to try to win. Hopefully, he can get whatever he has off his chest with us and get back to business and help this team win.”

Hornacek said he and Markieff have exchanged text messages this summer.
“I think that he’s just got to get over that he wasn’t happy that his brother was traded and that’s understandable,” Hornacek said. “But the season is coming up and it’s time to get back to work.”

With Mirza Teletovic joining Suns workouts Tuesday and Tyson Chandler scheduled to arrive in Phoenix this weekend after a death in his family, Morris will be the only one among 13 Suns guaranteed-contract players to not be at the weekday voluntary sessions of drills and pickup games.

Suns guard Brandon Knight said he spoke with Morris briefly this summer.
“Markieff is taking some time to himself, as you guys know,” Knight said. “I don’t really want to speak on the matter. I just wish him the best.”

They are just trying to make the best out of a bad situation. Losing respect for management for not being spiteful and reactionary is, well, spiteful and reactionary, LGS.

Is Hornacek communicating with a different Markieff? Because I think Kieff was pretty clear when he stated his future was not in Phoenix.

That said, what Horny stated does have merit--once he gets out on the court, and starts playing with his teammates, it's hard to not want to play for them. I don't think Kieff is selfish enough to 'tank' his play and affect his teammates chance at success. I hope I'm not wrong in that assessment, but at the end of the day, if when the season starts, Kieff still isn't 'on-board' and giving his all, then I suspect Horny will know and yank him. His teammates will know as well, and I suspect they will keep him in line.

But if Kieff is all about 'saving face', then he may not show up at all--who knows? If that happens, then he will be 'screwing' with the Suns, and at that point, would expect he's traded for peanuts ASAP.
