Watching some video of Joel Embiid. For as little basketball background as he has, he has amazing instincts for how to move on the court. He has that combination of size, intelligence, physical skill, and instinct that is hard to find. I certainly can see why many are looking at him as #1.

No clue, but he moves like a young KG out there. You hardly ever see young 7 footers with perimeter skills like that. Jeez.

Amazing. But watching him, he scares me. He doesn't have much leg strength. You can see the stress that he is putting on his knees in those moves he is making. I think this kid is going to have health problems.

The kid who is only a sophmore in hs has improved his skills and strength a lot in the past year alone. I wouldn't be worried about it. Heck, he's still three years away from being drafted. He will get his legs stronger as he is still developing as a basketball player. The coaches he works with are doing an outstanding job, and I'll be curious how much better he gets in the following years.

Beyond his apparent basketball ability, Thon Maker is a fantastic name. Nickname potential off the charts.

New Mock from Jeff Goodman at ESPN

17. Zach LaVine | SG | Phoenix Suns
College: UCLA | Age: 18 | 6-5, 180

New general manager Ryan McDonough loves speed and athleticism, and LaVine has no shortage of both. He's raw, but he is a freak athlete who can also shoot the ball from the perimeter.

23. Jerami Grant | SF | Phoenix Suns
College: Syracuse | Age: 19 | 6-8, 203

This is the second of three first-round picks for the Suns. While the team has fared well with its underwhelming front line, McDonough will likely try and upgrade. Grant is long, athletic and his skill level is constantly improving.

30. Clint Capela | PF | Phoenix Suns
Country: Switzerland | Age: 19 | 6-10, 215

The Suns, with three first-round picks, will likely go the international route with at least one, and Capela fits what the Suns need -- an athletic big man who can run the floor, rebound and block shots.

He also has Adreian Payne going 24th to the Rockets, but I'd rather nab him at 23 than Grant, and then maybe go for another wing at 30.

I'd be shocked if LaVine is still on the board at 17.

And I am not a fan of Jerami Grant. I think he's one of the most overrated prospects in this draft.

Agreed on both accounts. At this moment, I'm not convinced that Grant would be better than Fair.

Adreian Payne, I think he's a bit overrated. I'm not as impressed with him as many others seem to be. I also don't think that Capela will last until 30.

It's definitely possible, I believe that more than him lasting until the last pick of the 1st round.

I think the chances increase because you have teams like Orlando and Philly that have two lotto picks and may be willing to take a chance.

Btw, In2, have you seen Juwan Staten play? He looks like a carbon copy of Eric Bledsoe.

Good point.

No, I have not seen anything about Juwan Staten, but you've peaked my interest and I will try to do some research on him.

Is Staten a Bledsoe type athlete? I haven't seen much WVU ball.

I have seen Marcus Foster from KSU though, and man he's got some athletic ability.

As much as some media and fans like to applaud the guys who go back to school it's just not a good idea if you have a 1st round grade. Smart and Mitch mcgary for sure cost themselves money not coming out last year an even guys like Gary Harris and glen Robinson probably did.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.
