The Suns are set keeping Wright/Len, Tucker, and Bledsoe.

They are not tied to Warren/Ennis/etc for the right deal.

We've put calls into Chicago, Houston, and Orlando I heard of.

Don't know anything else. And I won't know as much this year as in years' previous. The Suns are controlling what gets out at this juncture.

So we are looking for a SG and PF if keeping Len/Wright, Tucker, and Bledsoe.

Oladipo and Fournier redundant at Orlando?
Mirotic from Bulls?
Houston ... seems odd, who would we want?

I like Mirotic a lot, but so do the Bulls. Would love to get him. He has great handles for a PF and knows how to score. Not sure if he is good or bad defensively though.

Its time to take a realistic look at trade options with deadline quickly approaching. There is one piece on our team that has real value. Once piece that other teams will want. Unfortunately that piece is Goran Dragic. The team that wants him now are the Rockets. Certainly the Lakers and Knicks would like to get him as a free agent next year.

Let's look at the Rockets first. What do they have we might want. Certainly a PF or C would fit the Suns need. Backups for Len or a PF starter where we can move Kief to the bench. Clint Capela, Terrence Jones, and Donatas Motiejunas are the options for us. How about something like this.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nq4z86h

Why do we this?

1) Goran is gonna explore FA. Can we afford him if he gets big offers from the Knicks or Lakers.
2) Do we want to lose Goran for nothing?
3) Goran is one of the older players on the team
4) We get a stretch 4, rebounder and shot blocker with Jones
5) We get a raw center to backup Len who has much more growth potential than Plumlee
6) Gives our young SG and PG playing time (Goodwin / Ennis / )

Why Houston does this?

1) Upgrade at the PG position
2) There are in the win now mode
3) Improved chance to re-sign Goran since Zoran is moved in the trade

Suns roster

Bledsoe/IT/Ennis
Goodwin/Bullock/Green
Tucker/Marcus/Warren
Kief/Jones/Papanikolaou
Len/Wright/Capella

Waive Beverly
Let Green expire next year
Look to move IT during the summer

Very happy with McDonough's moves.

Him putting all those players on the block is just a good GM assessing the value of his assets. Dragic and Green are on expirings, Plumlee has a limited role and might be more useful to someone else, IT and the Morrii are on great contracts. He is just doing due diligence and seeing what his options are and if he can strike gold. Realistically I'd see IT, Green, Plumlee, and maybe Goodwin as the players on the block. IT might legitimately be in the long term plans or just might be insurance for Goran (a mistake I feel especially if he is driven out of town because of it)

Either way good trade for a young player for a player that barely made the roster last year and got no time this year.

Your right. The thing about these players what they dont understand is they are not the reason the majority of fans come to games. Majority of fans come to see a great product. You can have a roster full of all-star but if they are playing below .500 people wont come,

Yes there are those fans who like individual players but can't name 5 players on the team. But they come to games as a fade.

Damn if the Thunder get Brook Lopez for a guy who isn't even in their rotation (Lamb), our challenge to keep them out of #8 becomes even harder.

With that being said, still its a great move that seems to be a precursor to another trade. We were already thin with the bigs and we just got thinner. This now leaves us with just 2 PF's and 2 C's.

I remember Bullock in college. To me he seemed like a Bledsoe type player in a SF body. Great defender and decent on offense (PJ Tucker-like). Actually, the more i think about it, he seems to be just like a younger version of Tucker.

Its another steal for us. Now the question is "What is our next move?".

Get better home boy.

Yes! Real, proven value...a sure thing, and for many years to come. Also, being a '15 UFA cuts his trade value way down for any suitor.

No. And that's why the Suns are going to offer him more than any other team in years and dollars.

bigfoot wrote:3) Goran is one of the older players on the team

Yep! At 28 "Old Guy" Gogi has only 5 or 6 years 'til he slips away towards retirement. Manu 2.0

I can't wait until the afternoon of February 19th and the Goran Dragic trade non-sense is over. Better day still will be the July Dragic resigning at 5/75...a great, no doubt value signing for the Suns.

Brooklyn officials have been re-canvassing the league for intel on Hornets guard Lance Stephenson, trying to measure the risk-reward of bringing him back to his hometown, league sources said. Charlotte and Brooklyn talked several weeks ago, but discussions cooled when the Nets were reluctant to acquire Stephenson as part of a broader package, league sources said. Yahoo! Sports

The Nets have had discussions with Oklahoma City on Lopez, but the best chance for bringing back value on the former All-Star center could be gambling on the talent of Stephenson. There's support for a Stephenson homecoming to Brooklyn on the ownership level but rival teams believe the front office is more cautious about taking on the volatile player. Yahoo! Sports

Beverly is a good defensive PG, i wouldnt mind keeping him, except we already have a glut of guards and he will be getting a pretty decent sized contract by someone in the offseason. Houston also LOVES him and would try to keep him, so he could be Dragic's back-up.

When it comes to sending Dragic to Houston, i'd expect more. We are giving up the best player in the trade, and really not getting anything back that is close to Dragic's level or worth. They (Houston) pretty much have a bunch of high priced guys that they wont trade (Harden/Howard/Ariza) and then some scraps, so i feel like they have to make one hell of an offer for us to consider trading Dragic. They can talk about how Dragic is a FA and how they can just sign him in the offseason all they want, but this way guarantees that they end up with Dragic. If they wait until FA, then they will have to compete with the Lakers and Knicks for Dragic, and both of those teams can offer Dragic much much much more money. Now with that being said, my greedy ass would ask for:

Motie/Jones/Capela/Terry/Pelicans 1st for DragicX2/Plumlee.

Terry is an expiring that can be dropped right away. Jones is still dealing with his nerve issues, Capela can take over whatever minutes Dumlee was getting and Motie would be playing PF behind Keiff.

Bledsoe/IT/Ennis
Tucker/Goodwin
CusMo/Green/Warren
Keiff/Motie/Jones
Len/Wright/Capela

^^^ not liking that trade. Simply because all of those players are not going to help the Suns. Houston is NOT a good trade partner. They have a lot of money tied up in three players and when you do that the rest of the team is a bunch of scraps. Can't expect to get dragic with scraps.

Bottomline a trade has to benefit both teams. This seems more of a one sided trade.

My personal opinion is the rockets do not have a good roster (besides harden, Howard, and Ariza).

@WojYahooNBA: Brooklyn's most serious talks for Brook Lopez are in the West, sources tell Yahoo. Lakers interested, but likely short assets for deal.

Update:
David Aldridge just said on TNT that the three way deal (nets/okc/hornets) is just one of many deals being talked about/contemplated by the nets (for Lopez).

Do not see how Lopez fits the Suns at all. Not a good rebounder for a big man and has had many injuries. I am not a fan of his or his big contract that goes through next year.

Return to Phoenix Suns
