“It’s a case of hopefully he can get here and we can all talk to him,” Hornacek said. “I think, once he gets here with the players, maybe the players can help with that regard and realize that probably, like anything else, it happens when you might not be happy with the organization. But you’re a professional. You go out there and play as hard as you can. Really, when you get out there and start playing games, you’re not playing for the organization. You’re probably not even playing for your coaches. You’re playing for yourself and your teammates because that’s the bond those guys have as players. Once he gets playing with these guys, I think he’ll be OK.”

“I know Markieff,” Hornacek said. “I know that when he gets here and starts playing, he’s a competitor and he’s going to try to win. Hopefully, he can get whatever he has off his chest with us and get back to business and help this team win.”

Hornacek said he and Markieff have exchanged text messages this summer.
“I think that he’s just got to get over that he wasn’t happy that his brother was traded and that’s understandable,” Hornacek said. “But the season is coming up and it’s time to get back to work.”

With Mirza Teletovic joining Suns workouts Tuesday and Tyson Chandler scheduled to arrive in Phoenix this weekend after a death in his family, Morris will be the only one among 13 Suns guaranteed-contract players to not be at the weekday voluntary sessions of drills and pickup games.

Suns guard Brandon Knight said he spoke with Morris briefly this summer.
“Markieff is taking some time to himself, as you guys know,” Knight said. “I don’t really want to speak on the matter. I just wish him the best.”

Is Hornacek communicating with a different Markieff? Because I think Kieff was pretty clear when he stated his future was not in Phoenix

It wouldn't surprise me if McDonough or Coach told him already that, unless we get fair value in return, he's not being traded.
So now it's about getting back on speaking terms. Have a meeting. Apologies both ways. And move on.

I like white, purple and orange ones. Don't like the black one and hate the grey one.

I still can't get used to these Unis. They still have that Wal-Martesque to them.

If you go to Suns.com you can see Booker sporting the black one... it actually doesn't look that bad.

Mayby they don't look bad but many teams now have those minimalistic almost all black jerseys and they all look the same.

Have our unis always had that weird sunburst thing on the bottom of the pants? Maybe it's just me, but I think I think it looks really bad. Should have just done stripes or something on the pants. That way the tops and bottoms would actually match and not look like 2 separate unis

Since the start of 2013, yes.

That said, what Horny stated does have merit--once he gets out on the court, and starts playing with his teammates, it's hard to not want to play for them. I don't think Kieff is selfish enough to 'tank' his play and affect his teammates chance at success. I hope I'm not wrong in that assessment, but at the end of the day, if when the season starts, Kieff still isn't 'on-board' and giving his all, then I suspect Horny will know and yank him. His teammates will know as well, and I suspect they will keep him in line.

But if Kieff is all about 'saving face', then he may not show up at all--who knows? If that happens, then he will be 'screwing' with the Suns, and at that point, would expect he's traded for peanuts ASAP.

Well he has to show up. These aren't voluntary workouts, these are training camps which all NBA players on an NBA roster MUST show up for. If he doesn't show up, it would be like not showing up to practice or not showing up to games. He would be disciplined appropriately.

He says his future isn't with the Suns but that's likely a medium-long term view. Only we can make things happen.

Kwief is a cancer in THIS locker room....

Way too much concern about this diva.... even Hornecek down plays him. I think the FO is completely comfortable going forward with no Kwief, and nothing in return, for now. They have made some significant additions for this season...how they work out will be the pudding proof. But for them to bow down to this chump is not going to happen.

Camp begins soon....then is when I expect the FO to address this formerly. There is no point to feed Kwief's ego with attention.

Part of me wants to agree. If we keep Kieff the turmoil he cultivates will implode the team chemistry and sink the season. However, the line the Suns FO is laying out, as stated by Gambo during his show today, and Hornacek last night, makes some sense.

If you bring him into a different and veteran laden locker room, minus the day to day influence of Marcus and his mother, the beta Morris might acclimate.

Most of us have been in a locker room and letting down your teammates due to effort is something that competitive people just cant do. Dragic played hard but hated his role and voiced it in the form of a trade demand at the deadline. He didn't stop playing hard. Dragic simply stated that he would not resign.

Markieff Morris is not long for a Suns uniform but there is a decent possibility that given a primary role in the offense and 30+ minutes a game he will play hard for this team. I have a difficult time believing that Chandler, Knight, and Bledsoe won't have some kind of impact on his perspective, regardless of his trade demand.

I agree. I think if he is removed from his brother and surrounded by his teammates and Hornacek, he will be a pro. I imagine they maybe will tell him if he really wants to be traded, they will see if they can get proper value, but I don't know that they need to.

The main issue is going to be Sarver....he likely wants to appease the fanbase and trade him so I imagine a discussion has been had that more options will be available come December 15th. It's not like the casual fans are on this team's back anyway. Most are not on board at this time.

Totally agree. Anyone who actually believes Markieff will change because his brother is not around is living in an alternate reality. Look at it logically. Those guys are probably as close as siblings can get. They do everything together and virtually share one brain. Markieff does not want to be in Phoenix. Do you actually think he is going to show up to training camp, see the rest of the guys, and say forget how I have felt my entire life, I want to play my hardest and win a championship with Bledsoe, Knight, etc.? No way.

Markieff's attitude WILL NOT CHANGE. Almost every time he posts a tweet he ends it with #FOE. He is not saying it for fun. That is how he feels. Plus, he is an idiot. Any NBA player that mocks the league he plays in and is blatantly disrespectful to the extent Markieff is, is a moron.

The Suns organization would have to be the dumbest in sports if they think he is going to change. Seriously it is over. He is who he is. A self absorbed, immature lunatic who has no business being in a Suns uniform. Not only does he have on the court and off the court problems, he thinks he is so much better than he really is. And if people think he is not replaceable by any power forward who will play hard every night, they are kidding themselves.

The Morrii aren't bad guys. They're just idiots, there's a big difference.

And idiots who aren't humble are just a-holes. That's pretty much the Morrii.
