Is Yogi any better than a guy like Canaan?

I am still holding out for the Clippers to make a move - granted, they could waive Wesley Johnson and Boban and roll with a bunch of guards!

I think Yogi is slightly better but he also had a lot more help given Carlisle relative to our coaches. But even with the Clipper guys I see them as short term PGs for us. We could use either to start this season but I would expect us to make a big push in FA next year or if Dame is moved. Bev is a good fit but long-term we need a tier above imo (whether that be Dame, Kemba, Goran, whoever).

Oh no, don't get me wrong. any PG i mention is one year. I like your names but if I had to put money on the PG for the Suns in the future - he plays in Utah with Spanish blood - Mr Rubio.

Knight/Harrison/Okobo
Booker/Daniels/Reed
Warren/Ariza/Bridges
Jackson/Chriss/Bender
Ayton/Chandler/Holmes

That's an 11 seed in the West roster in my opinion. Better than Clippers, Mavs, Kings, and Grizzlies.

Bridges will get more run than Daniels.

Nobody after Booker is getting more run. Reed, Daniels, Bridges, whatever u wanna pencil in gets very little minutes.

Also...Holmes DEFINITELY gonna be backup center, not Chandler. He's gonna stay home.

Also... Doubt Ariza is off bench. Jackson isn't gonna play PF. If anything he plays more SG and allows Bridges more spot time at the 3. Ariza, sadly, is your PF.

Ariza, Jackson, and Warren will have to fight for the starting forward spots each night, and I think it will depend on the matchup. If it’s LeBron then Ariza will start. If it’s Jason Tatum then Jackson will start. Daniels not playing at all is not believeable even with Reed and Bridges. I’m not a fan of him, but is good for a few 3’s and a spark every game. Unless he gets traded I think he will play quite a bit.

Bender and Chriss are really gonna have to earn time on the court instead of it being gifted to them, I LOVE IT!

Gambo covering his bases to counter Bordows comments that the Suns were not talking buyout with Chandler.

In Bordows article he posted this afternoon - doesn't think SAuce is coming back and thinks Holmes is back up center as Chandler not reliable to play heavy minutes

So, unless things change - if the Suns get a PG - probably Daniels will be waived or traded. I can still see Chandler as a buyout candidate in Feb if still on roster. Though - when training camps come around - teams can assess and might be time to make a move than.

This gets a giant eyeroll from me. At some point you need guys who can actually **** play. I'm so sick of them waisting money and roster spots on 'locker room guys'. **** they still have Chandler's corpse and ariza is getting paid for that too. Plus it's time guys like Booker and Warren take on a leadership role.

I read Bordows piece - Dudley said he is in better shape than last year, already down 10 pounds

My question - why weren't you in shape last year?

As for Sauce - he got a nice paycheck last year. The knee injury sucked but he also knew he was basically signing a 6/1 deal - when the rest of the market was probably offering him half that.

You are right - Suns need BETTER players on the court

On one hand it's a fringe roster move so its not like it gets the suns planning for a championship parade. But Holmes should play so it's not a nothing type move either. Frankly one of my complaints about McD is his work with the back end of the roster hasn't been very good so I'm happy he made a move like this because I like Holmes.

I think the end of our roster is great. Looking across the league, plenty of teams have unplayable guys sitting in the 12-15 spots. Aside from Tyson and perhaps Okobo, all of our guys can play. I even like George King (#16).

I agree I like what they have at the backend of the roster right now more than any other team McD has ran out there.

I probably should have clarified; my complaint with McD is he just hasn't had any luck finding serviceable players with late 1st rounders or 2nd rounders or UFA's. Obviously a low percentage of these guys pan out but in 5 years on a rebuilding team you would have liked to see them hit on at least one.

With that said I really think a player or two of the Okobo, Reed, Holmes, Shaq, King group might rise up and be a real player going forward.

I know...I like the end of our rotation. I saw tweets earlier that said stuff like "lots of bodies on the roster and everyone needs playing time..need to make moves" which makes no sense to me....would people rather have a bunch of scrubs at the end of the bench like last year or more serviceable players? I'd rather have a lot of guys who can play fighting for time...instead of 9 or 10 who didn't have to worry and just showed up.

Now of course one could look at our roster and call a number of our players scrubs, even a guy like Knight, but I like the last guys, and Bender and Chriss haven't shown much yet, but I never judge guys that young too prematurely...at least not definitively, particularly if they didn't have very good coaching.

Why an eyeroll when the guy is saying Holmes and Sauce are more valuable than one might think...and Dudley wanted to play so they got rid of him since he wasn't going to.

I think the nets will definitely take a flier on this guy. Man, wish we could give him a try. He's 6'9, quick feet, great D, high energy, looks like he can shoot. Shot 37% from 3 in Japan, for what it's worth

I think he was saying Williams and Dudley were more valuable than the stats and implying they should still be on the team.

I think the guy is saying Dudley and Sauce are more valuable than stats show and why get rid of Jared if he was wanting to play. I think the person in the tweeted wanted them to keep Dudley and sign back Sauce.

Gambo just said they started talking buyout a couple weeks ago. No market for Dudley so Jared didn't want to give up money. Suns might have even offered 9 of the 9.5m. Works for both parties - Suns get Holmes, Dudley gets a chance to play, to get bought on Feb 15 to sign with a playoff team - unless the Nets are playoff bound.

Yeah, I guess you are right. I think Dudley was kind of valuable as a locker room guy and the team was always better with him on the floor this past year, but then again, our team was so terrible this past year, that I doubt we would be better with him on the floor this upcoming season, and we got a newer, better vet/locker room leader in Ariza.

I think Williams adds a lot to the team and locker room though.

I really like Holmes though. It's hard to know how good Williams would be on the floor given he looked pretty good as a rookie and then was out last year. We certainly needed a guy like Holmes more than Dudley. Probably better on the floor than Williams would be but hard to determine given Williams status last year. I do think Holmes will relish the opportunity though.

If something happens with Tyson and Williams is still a FA - wouldn't mind bringing him back. But my guess, PG is next on the list over Williams. Granted, keeping saying that and it hasn't happened yet.
