Unfortunately that piece is Goran Dragic. The team that wants him now are the Rockets. Certainly the Lakers and Knicks would like to get him as a free agent next year.

Let's look at the Rockets first. What do they have we might want. Certainly a PF or C would fit the Suns need. Backups for Len or a PF starter where we can move Kief to the bench. Clint Capela, Terrence Jones, and Donatas Motiejunas are the options for us. How about something like this.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nq4z86h

Why do we this?

1) Goran is gonna explore FA. Can we afford him if he gets big offers from the Knicks or Lakers.
2) Do we want to lose Goran for nothing?
3) Goran is one of the older players on the team
4) We get a stretch 4, rebounder and shot blocker with Jones
5) We get a raw center to backup Len who has much more growth potential than Plumlee
6) Gives our young SG and PG playing time (Goodwin / Ennis / )

Why Houston does this?

1) Upgrade at the PG position
2) There are in the win now mode
3) Improved chance to re-sign Goran since Zoran is moved in the trade

Suns roster

Bledsoe/IT/Ennis
Goodwin/Bullock/Green
Tucker/Marcus/Warren
Kief/Jones/Papanikolaou
Len/Wright/Capella

Waive Beverly
Let Green expire next year
Look to move IT during the summer

Awful. We need to get At least motiejunas to even consider trading dragic

I hope the Lakers get Lopez instead. I think if Lopez stays healthy, LAL will definitely stay out of the bottom 5 teams.

I would take Lopez in a second. He can do something we need badly. Post scoring. Yeah he has been hurt but getting Lopez would make the Suns better.

We need easy baskets. Three pointers and long jump shots are not easy baskets.

@sam_amick: Regarding Nets, Hornets, Thunder discussions reported by @Chris_Broussard, I'm told Kendrick Perkins has to be in it to make it work.

@SportsWhispers: At least 8 teams are involved in the Brook Lopez talks. Only 3 of them are in talks to acquire Lopez; the others to be 3rd team in trade

@SportsWhispers: Nets in talks of a 3 or possibly 4 team deal that would net them David Lee and Lance Stephenson

Yeah, if Green + (1 of the PGs) are traded, Bullock has a spot.

I feel compelled to assist Boston in their tanking/acquiring assets/desire for expirings, and since I'm such a caring and selfless person, I'd be willing to make this trade, for their benefit, of course.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nhcron8

Suns In: PF-J. Sullinger, C-K. Olynyk

Celtics In: C-M. Plumlee, SG/SF-G. Green, PHX 2015 1st (Top 13 Protected)

I mean, they rid themselves of two contracts that are guaranteed through at least next season, and give them two contracts that expire after this season, plus a mid-teens pick. Since they now have Randolph, they won't miss Sully too much, and we trade Centers, so they'll be covered in that regard, position-wise, and for their trouble in downgrading Centers, we give them our 1st Rd pick. I'm sure McD would be willing to oblige for his old mentor's sake. I mean, the trade machine says we decreased their win total by 2, which supports their tank.

Dragic/IT/Ennis
EB/Goodwin/Dragic
Tucker/Warren/Bullock
Sullinger/KieffMo/CusMo
Len/Wright/Olynyk

Everybody wins, right!

Ah, if only Doc Rivers were the Celtic GM, we'd be golden...oh wait...he's the Clippers GM. Well shoot, let's help LAC out as well!

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lr36pjy

Suns In: C-D. Jordan

LAC In: PG-I. Thomas, C-Miles Plumlee

Doc may not go for this though, as he may feel compelled to throw in their 2020 1st Rd pick, or something!

The more you think about McStunna's mentality, the less sense it makes that Green is here. He has to be the most likely to be traded, surely.

I actually hope the Thunder get Lopez. That's just 13shots a game that KD and Westbrook aren't taking. I also like the Len on Lopez. It definitely seems like OKC is feeling the pressure.

"Re: proposed three-team trade talk reported by ESPN between Brooklyn, Charlotte & OKC (Brook Lopez to OKC, Jarrett Jack and Jeremy Lamb to Charlotte, Lance Stephenson to Nets): nothing imminent. Nets have many potential deals on the table and haven't made any decisions on which way they'll go."

This is putrid justification for giving a player away. Lets actually break this down. Cappella is a D-League regular and what little time he has at the NBA level, he has revealed that he is very raw - years away from being a solid NBA competitor, which is why the Suns did not draft him.

T.Jones has a nerve injury which has result in a foot drop and has not played since the 4th game of the season. There is no timetable for his return if ever. Motiejunas is the only legit big man the Rockets have outside of Howard. Howard has a bone on bone knee issue and has spent considerable time out of the line-up and will likely do so in the 2nd half of the season. Rockets will not likely trade Motiejunas. Papa is a terrible player. Basically you are proposing a trade of an all-pro guard, who is the face of and on-court leader of the franchise and a competent reserve center for a D-Leaguer, a disabled player and a terrible foreign player.

There is nothing about this trade that helps the Suns now or in the future.

I'm wondering how committed the front office (namely McD) are to Dragic. Obviously there is mutual respect between the organisation and the player but does our front office really intend to commit 4-5 years and around $30m a season on 2 PG's?

makes me wonder if the Bullock move was made to replace Pj Tucker, if green goes, and Marcus plays the bulk of his minutes as back up pf then we are looking at

Dragic/Goodwin
Bullock/Warren/Marcus
Kieff/Marcus

Seriously? Bullock starting? W traded for him because he was available for free, for frickin Shavlik Randolph. He probably will spend most of the time on the inactive list this season.

Why are we even trying to trade Dragic again?

Don't stress. No one really knows if the Suns are trying. Just some speculation and rumors right now. Nothing new.

I guess it is not about trying to trade Dragic. It is just "if we have received a reasonable offer, then fine. Otherwise, no."

When I say 'we', I meant this board.

The only way Dragic gets traded is if it's for a genuine star who will make our team better. Otherwise, Dragic is going to resign.

Even if he is traded, it leaves a massive hole at the 2 guard that nobody on the current team can fill.

As goodwill and to hope he would sign for less or for something "reasonable". I guess I'm just uncomfortable with the idea of committing so much to two players playing the same position.

But they don't play the same position really. With the cap going up, and the other four starters are locked in, I don't think its a big deal.
