Nuggets are about to go down 2-1 - if they lose
Porter will move into the starting lineup and that would leave Millsap as aFA as they probably would want to keep Grant

I thought of possibly Harris for Oubre since they have Barton and Murray and might want to change things up - but he doesn't shoot threes that well and makes a boat load of money

Millsap though if Saric and Baynes aren't brought back might make sense on a one year deal.

I would be really interested in Grant if possible. He’s the perfect PF to put next to Ayton because of his elite defense and 3pt shooting ability.

Suns would have to renounce some players to sign outright. Also Grant would replace Cam J in the lineup - is that really an upgrade

Would Oubre for Grant make sense - I get it would be a sign and trade? Bring back Saric to play the 5 spot.

I would do that, I’m not sure Denver would. I think the difference between Grant and Cam should give Grant the edge for the PF position especially with a C that’s a liability.

Both Cam and Grant shot 39% from 3 this season. Both almost the same age as well with Grant being a year older.

If we can have Cam be a prolific bench scorer that can also start in spurts when injuries happen, it’d be the perfect role for him imo.

This is one guy we do agree on at PF, I've always been a fan of Grant.

On his D I mentioned this the other day advanced stats never back up how good of a defender he appears to be with the eye test. I'm not a big fan of defensive advanced stats but it's something to at least mention.

Clippers have expressed very high interest in Baynes in the past, and he fits them like a glove. Tough. Good Weather. Championship Ambition. Owner that's willing to pay... Clippers can also hide his deficiency with their incredible weak side help. It's going to be hard for Baynes to say No. And if the Clippers have a disappoint playoff run, I think he's good as gone.

I think backup center is something you have to really think about. Saric and that tall white guy who can't make a layup ... is not going to cut it.

I think it will be very intersting to see how the cap is affected as that will affect player transactions. This should affect all teams in one way or another. I get the Suns could go from a team with say 23m of cap space under certain scenarios and that number might go to 16m. But for teams over the cap, my guess the lux tax line will also be lower. Now a team like the Warriors - they won't care. But they also might be close to being hard capped. So its going to be interesting. Thats why Saric and Baynes might be back on one year deals with team options in year 2 because though its not fully guaranteed for two years - they might be getting say 130-140% for one year.

I never thought Baynes would stay when we signed him. Then it seemed like he liked it here and I thought he would. It still seems like he likes it here. I think it might more come down to how bad we want him. It will also depend on how much they let the bubble play impact things. I know the Clippers wanted him but Zubac has played pretty well.

I guess it depends on how much they feel they need a C who can stretch the floor since neither Zubac or Harrell can hit the 3. Same could go for a team like the Lakers, who have a lot of Cs but would they prefer a vet stretch one?

It may come down to years for Baynes. But at the same time, Sarver may not want to work above the cap and will want to move on. I get the sense Sarver would be swayed a lot quickly based on the bubble and may be willing to let Baynes go strictly because of that along with not being an above the cap team. I think he will want to save as much as he can on payroll.

No attaching Frank isn't enough for AG. Oubre going out would really be the only way to get AG.

Dinwiddie only makes around $11mil so there are some ways make a deal with the pick plus some filler for him. I'm a big Dinwiddie fan and would be open to something like that but I also kind of like the idea of having a nice cost controlled asset by using that pick and I like some of the prospects at 10 so I'd have to think about it.

If we're trading back for Dinwiddie using our 10th pick, Then I really want this trade to be how we go about it!

Phoenix trades the 10th pick/Jerome to Brooklyn for Dinwiddie/ NIK CLAXTON/ 19th/ 55th picks!
I do this specifically so I can get Claxton. He's 6'11 with a 7'3 wingspan ( same measurables as Giannis) and a 36 inch vertical. Also he has advanced ballhandling skills and an improving perimeter game! He's got elite potential!

* He'd be a great backup 4/5 And is only making 898,000.
19- Draft Tyler Bey.
55- Draft Sam Merrill. :D

Porter has been starting alongside Millsap. Though I think you are right and they will move on from Millsap and keep Grant.

10 for Dinwiddie to be our third guard and possible eventual Rubio replacement is very intriguing and seems like a total James Jones move. NotACat you're imagining a three-way where Gordon goes to the Nets?

Actually, I've mentioned this before not too long ago, But IF we go to a lineup of:

- Booker/ Rubio/ Payne.
- Bridges/ Vassell? / Carter.
- Grant/ Cam/ Vassell.
- Cam/ Saric/ Bridges.
- Ayton/ Baynes/ Grant.
In this lineup, You can fit him in, And then you can have both start. Obviously in this scenario you trade Oubre. I'd actually do one of these Oubre trades to create cap space for signing Grant.

1-
Trade him to New York for their 8th pick (** Draft Vassell) and then at 10 (**draft Toppin). However, If Toppin isn't there, Then at 10, I'd draft Saddiq Bey ( replace Saric). BUT if they rather keep their pick,

2- Then maybe Oubre for cap space and the 2021 Dallas unprotected first.

3- Or to Golden state for their TPE and their 48th pick.
48- Malachi Flynn or Tyshon Alexander?

Oubre is a much better player than Grant imo. Talent-wise we lose by swapping Oubre for Grant. If we're looking at a star free agent acquisition in 2021 FA then Oubre probably makes more sense since Oubre is expiring and won't take any cap space in the future.

But as far as stats go, Oubre has the edge in per game, per 36, and Raptor, and quite comfortably on all fronts. I also have a hard time believing Grant's defense is elite when defensive Raptor has him at -1.8 and Oubre at +0.5.

The only edge Grant has is per 36 3 point shooting, where he averages 1.9 3PG on 39% 3P% per36, whilst Oubre shoots 1.9 3PG on 35% 3P% per 36.

Overall, I think Oubre is definitely the superior player and honestly I don't think Grant has much of a case, at least from a pure production standpoint.

Calm your horses on Grant for a second. I was high on him too but with a closer look, he's not really someone to get that hyped about.

Seems like the best short term and long term move is to operate over the cap this summer (assuming we get there responsibly). Ink Baynes and Saric to overpaid 1 year deals and then use the MLE to add guard depth. We’d have nice tradeable contracts for non-core players that can be used as salary ballast during the season. We would definitely have the depth and talent to push into the playoff race, and then we have a lot more cap space the following summer when we need it.

You’d be sacrificing signing a bigger name this year for the opportunity to do so next year, and you make it much easier to trade for a star level player.

So if Kelly O has to go, Suns getting Dinwiddie, Magic getting 10, I think it could work with bringing Minnesota into the fold. I got a little carried away with this trade idea, just a heads up, but here's what I cooked up: https://tradenba.com/trades/KRZuhdZEt

It's a lot, but it let's Phoenix and Minnesota upgrade their rosters without denouncing their FA, Brooklyn upgrades their wing defense, and Orlando grabs #10 without losing 15 and get great depth that doesn't destroy long term cap space. My only concern is that this could put Orlando in the luxury tax, but could downgrade Fournier to save money

Cavs fan here. Would you trade the 10th pick for either Collin Sexton or Darius Garland? I ask in case Cleveland really likes someone like Hayes or Halliburton at 5.

Hard to say without knowing who's there and I didn't really follow Garland last year. Sexton is an interesting guy. Honestly they don't really seem like James Jones type of players though.

It's not bad. However, If we're giving up BOTH Oubre AND the 10th pick, I'd need Brooklyn to add Claxton and maybe the 55th pick to the return. Because, After everything is said and done, Our part of the deal not only gets them under the tax, And allows them to more easily resign Harris ( professed key piece for them). But they also move up 9 spots into the lottery. Now Dinwiddie is good for sure! But i'm not sure he's worth giving up BOTH Oubre AND moving back 9 spots too. If we're giving up Oubre AND the 10, Why don't we just send it to Chicago for Markannen( higher value returning piece) and Sato ( better shooter for slightly cheaper) and he's only guaranteed for 5 million in 2021.

? Or we could do the 10 to Detroit for Kennard. Who's a much better shooter and ISO scorer, And for a fraction of the salary this summer. And keep Oubre, Or in a separate trade, Send him to Atlanta for the 4th pick and Dedmon (*Only 1 million guaranteed in 2021). Or to New York for the 8th pick to hopefully draft Toppin or Vassell. Ultimately, The deal is intriguing. But not without more value coming back since we're sending out both Oubre and a Top 10 pick. So for me to accept the deal, It would have to be something like:

https://tradenba.com/trades/CxZdEkbXi

Only now it's:

Phoenix gets- Dinwiddie/Claxton/Josh Okogie/16(minnesota)/19(from Brooklyn).
Magic get- James Johnson/Garrett Temple/ Jake Layman/ Frank Kaminsky/ 10th pick(Phoenix).
Minnesota gets- Kelly Oubre/ Al Fariq Aminu.
Brooklyn gets- Aaron Gordon.

So for our part, It basically breaks down to- Oubre for Josh Okogie/16th pick. And the 10th pick for Dinwiddie/ Claxton/19th pick. AND with us only taking back 14 million after trading Oubre, We can now sign Grant for 14 million per to fill Oubres' salary slot.
16- Grant Riller. Will take over for Dinwiddie in 2021, When he likely opts out.
19- Tyler Bey.
***Buy a mid 2nd for Tillie.***
In free agency, Sign Grant at 42/3. Then, Resign Saric at 18/2.
- Grant (replaces Oubre).
-Okogie ( Bought out).
-Riller (replaces Okobo).
-Tyler Bey(defensive wing depth).
-Tillie (replaces Saric/ Diallo).
-Claxton (replaces Kaminsky/Baynes).

Potential lineup

-Booker/Rubio/Riller.
-Bridges/Dinwiddie/Carter.
- Grant/T Bey/Cam J.
-Cam J/ Saric/ Tillie.
-Ayton/ Grant/Claxton. :lift: :eyebrows:

***C Payne- 4th guard/Microwave scorer/ Super 6th man off the bench!
***Ty Jerome-G League.
