Frye?

Post#1 » by AZdeuce » Tue May 25, 2010 4:22 am

Let start by saying Westphal 5:93

Unlike most fans I really like what he brings. There are not many 6'10 players that can shoot threes like him. But unfortuniately he cant throw a rock into the ocean right now.

I trully believe had he been hitting his threes this series would be 2-1 in our favor but thats just me. I dont agree you just sit him. I think you have to find a way to get him going. I think working the boards and a few put backs would do wonders.

What do you guys think his problem is this series?

His problem is his shooting. He keeps missing.

He's hesitating and as a result his timing is off.

The first three replies were brilliant answers!!

Anyway I see hesitation causing his feet to not get set causing him to be off target. Thus causing a total lack of confidence.

I'm really looking forward to when he finds his stroke, because when he does... the Suns are so much better. I agree with you that that this series would be 2-1 if Frye would be a factor.

I'm alllllll for keeping him out there even more.. He'll get it together by next game. I don't see him showing up in LA, though.

I'm looking forward to seeing a Dragic Game 3 performance by Frye tomorrrow :)

Lol. It's obviously his confidence. With the media spying on em, his wife on his ass, and even the team, I don't think he can concentrate. He has a mental block, and until he hits one shot, it won't come down. He just needs to forget the last three games and fire away, no hesitation. If he continues to struggle, send em to the bench, we seen what Lopez is capable of doing in a 30 minute span. I think we're really gonna need Frye if we are to win any more games and possibly the series.

I also feel that if he wasn't shooting so bad, the series would be 2 - 1 Suns.

He can only do one thing on the basketball court and he is unable to do it for whatever reason.

If you want to know why he is missing shots, well no one can answer that because he is missing wide open shots and has stopped trying anything even slightly contested.

he needs to fix his shooting mechanics- his shot always veers to the right or left. he needs to shoot the ball the right way. If the re sign him he should use that money to get a shooting coach.

He's just not good...When his 3 pointers are falling there are plenty of d-league caliber players that would do a better job than him. They should use the money he was expecting to buy a first round draft pick.

Play Dwayne Jones. Odom/Gasol averaging 20+ boards per game. Frye has 5 rebounds the whole series.

Bluntly? He is flat out choking. He's intimidated by the Lakers. When he catches the ball, you can see that he's looking at his defender with the corner of his eye instead of the basket. When he's catching a pass, he isn't catching the ball with the correct hand placement and it messes up his entire motion. When he brings the ball up from below his waist, it almost looks like he fumbles with the ball a bit. He also forces shots and rushes them because he's scared of his defender.

I can understand missing shots and not being in rhythm, but he needs to find a way to be productive. Crash boards or something, make up for the non-existent offense by getting us some second chance opportunities or putbacks. Draw fouls on somebody, but do something. A lot of his crappy shots are leading to long rebounds which have been leading to fast break points for the Lakers. I would kill to have Tim Thomas from back in the day over him.

I agree 100% with Gentry on benching him. He doesn't have any fire in him and that's not going to do the team any good. He needs to get angry at himself and use it on the court.

That's a great analysis about what he's doing wrong. I completely agree! His errors are occurring before the ball gets above his head.

Even tho he was still missing I thought there were at least 3 which were very close to going in. He really only needs to make some very small adjustments and unfortunately the things he needs to adjust can't be ironed out in practice. It's what's happening between his ears that he needs to control. His shot selection in game 3 was a lot better than in game 1 & 2. He just needs to concentrate a little more and keep taking the same shots he was taking in game 3.

While Lakers will undoubtedly adjust to the zone I'm hoping Frye improving his shooting will offset that. If he's sinking 3 or 4 a game that's huge for us.

I would leave this former Mildcat benched... he has the yips... like mentioned, he is not squaring up, hesitates... its painful to watch. He has missed 17 shots in a row. He is laying an egg like Q did.

Cant count on him, so dont count on him

Nah, he gets to experience the playoffs firsthand and his paycheck is no doubt a lot better too. Who wouldn't want that over the crappy D league?

Who is playing worse? Frye or Vince Carter for Orlando? :D

Gentry gave him chances in all games. He misses the first, Gentry says "go ahead, try again", and he keeps missing. Gentry takes him out only after the 6th or 7th missed shot when he knows his confidence is ruined for the game.

He would never expect PT being picked up with what 3-5 games left in the season and then a playoff run. He knew he was signing as insurance and hey, maybe a spot next year and a chance at working himself into the rotation with Lollins gone.
