Those trashing Amare do not understand basketball

His low rebounding numbers are a result of the zone in this series. He was out on the perimeter defening Odom / Artest half the series.

His man to man defense on Gasol was solid tonight.

He had two horrible offensive fouls late in the game that if I was the ref I swallow my whistle but what are you going to do.

If Amare walks this team will be terrible for 3-4 seasons unless we find an amazing sign and trade deal.

failed. zone defense or not, he's been a horrible rebounder.

I don't think if Amare leaves we would be that bad... I wouldn't mind seeing Bosh here if Amare leaves.
We'll be back playing the Lakers next season - only we'd have homecourt.

I still hope we can keep him here. I'm upset with him too but let's face it, he's one of the best out there and we have him. The Suns simply have to give him the max or he will be gone. And if we somehow locked him up, we NEED to get out to find a legit defensive/rebounding big to play alongside him. Lopez might be the answer but I'm not comfortable with Frye being our first big man off the bench.

yea we should keep him here to be competitive in the west as a 5-8 seed for the next 6 years? I'd rather suck for 2 years then make some real moves and get some real players...amare is not ever going to put us over the top

Thats why Frye rebounded much better than him....

In the end, A Boozer or another player who is hard on the boards.... the Suns would be going to the Finals.....

There is enough offense from everyone... and all they really need was that "threath" to score inside and someone to get the defensive rebounds to prevent second chance points..

If Amare leaves we will not be able to offer a free agent a max contract. Surely you understand that.

Also, Name 3 other people in the NBA who avg 23 pts a game and 10 rebounds?

Dirk? Nope 26 and 8.
Melo? Nope 28 and 6.
Howard? Nope 18 and 13.

In fact there is only one right now. And his name is.....

Bosch. 24 and 11.

Amare is 23 and 8. Are those 3 rebounds less 6-7% from the field really worth it?

Even Nash got a rebound more than Amare...

You could maybe excuse Amare for being out in the perimeter most of the game thus his lower rebounding numbers, but the fact is, Amare is a poor rebounders. There's just no way around it.

I've always thought Amare's man on man defense was average. It's not as bad as most people make it out to be. He only looks tremendously bad when he has to switch and help on defense because he doesn't read plays well that's why he's ALWAYS late. But for the most part, his man on man defense is probably better than DLee's, Dirk's and probably around the same as Boozer if not slightly better.

Come on rookie....Frye was killed on the boards all night as well. Half of his boards were off long rebounds where it was between him and Nash or him and Fish. Dont trust the numbers trust your eyes when your watching the game.

Amare on a max is worse than him leaving because it would cripple us. I have no idea what a team with him as the best player would look like, but I don't think it would get to the WCF. IF Amare accepts 14-15 mil a year, then it's ok, he should stay.

Rebounding is an instinctual skill. It's also about the effort and will. Amare just doesn't have it.

i do agree that Amare isnt as bad as everyone says he is. He has been out on the perimeter alot. But even on a bad shooting night, he still got 27 points. You dont get that from your average power forward. Re-sign him.

Exactly. A guy who can go for 40 any night at a very high clip must me kept. He has gotten better this year in all parts of his game. He is not built to be a 14 rebound a night game like Howard. But his offensive skills are far superior to Howards.

He will probably end up in Miami with D Wade and he will win a ring there before we ever do.

i want amare to stay BUT our point guard cannot outrebound our best post player zone or no zone. no excuses, Amare has to become a better rebounder now, today. his lack of rebounding is what separates him from being a good player vs a great player.
