Great GM, great chemistry guy who built the success we had this past season. Haven't found out if I'm related to him(probably not), but I hope he continues to have success. Hopefully we'll be hearing him on TNT.

Thus begins the age of David Griffin as the GM... My guess at least. Him or Barkley, but I'd take Griffin. Sad day though, I thought for sure he'd be back after making so many good things happen

He proved most of us wrong. He did a great job and shouldn't be the one leaving.

i really wanted him to stay after seeing his vision for this team coming to life this season... i hope kerr goes back to tnt to tag team with marv albert again

What I don't get is that this season completely redeemed him! At the rookie salary!

We all wanted his balls after the Shaq trade, and he owned up to his mistakes. A GM that can acknowledge a mistake, do his best to turn it around and succeed is hard to find. Finding one for the rookie salary? That's just amazingly great.

Steve Kerr took over for one of the most famous General Managers in all of sports. He never gave us an undue amount of bull, apart from the amount required to wheel and deal huge egos and salaries. He developed a great relationship with the players, and got us to the Western Conference Finals.

The man deserved part of that ten million we got from the playoffs, nevermind a pay cut!

I was really close to throwing him under the bus when he first started and then when he hired Porter and then when he traded one of my fav Suns (Bell) away. But he has more than redeemed himself. Not only has he made us competitive this season and got us to the WCF's, he also set us in the right direction, franchise-wise. I'll admit, I'm slightly annoyed at Kerr for being a "quitter" but I sorta understand his situation and the fact that he was never *really* in total control of the team and in a way, I understand why he would leave.

To see Sarver be this CHEAP (eff frugal, tight or any of those terms) *after* Kerr got him all this playoff (WCF) revenue is absolutely appalling and he should be ashamed of himself. Look, I don't claim to know the whole story but when a GM has not asked for a pay rise after the great job he's done and setting us in the right direction, as an owner, you do what you can to keep that GM. I don't think Sarver actually realise what he's done. Not only has he lost a great low-paid GM, who's given this franchise a future but he's basically broken up talks with probably his 1st or 2nd biggest earner (in terms of team attraction) Amare Stoudemire. STAT has stated that he liked the direction we were going in and also that he trusts Kerr as the GM. Sarver has also potentially hurt his relationships with vets like Hill and Nash, to be honest, don't have that many good years left.

With Amare gone and with us less likely to compete, there's going to be less tickets sold as no one wants to see a crappy product, less revenue from merchandising and likely no revenue from playoffs as we might miss it altogether. I tell you, if there's one good thing about not being owned by a company with many board of directors, is that we have only 1 guy to blame, Robert Sarver.

I appreciate everything you've done Steve and farewell. Just be glad you left before this whole thing crumbles.

Are we all just assuming that Steve Kerr was presented a pay decrease in the next contract. Steve Kerr has always been a family man, and a return to television opens up far more family time and way less stress.
Furthermore, Steve Kerr is leaving at a high point. With out the team taking a serious leap of faith on signing Amare, or landing another type A free agent this team will definatly take a major step back. Kerr leaving now will ensure he leaves with a good reputation as a GM. If we have a 30-35 wins next year he will return to being hated.
Much the same reason that Danny Ferry left Cleveland, who wants to be the GM that looses Lebron.

At what point do we give Robert Sarver a break on his frugality or cheepness. This all goes back to letting Joe Johnson walk for Boris Diaw. At the time Joe Johnson signed a 70mil contract. Sarver had just spent 400 million on the team. Joe had one great season and a bunch of inconsitancy.

Since that date yes we sold a lot of picks, but mostly because D'antoni wouldn't have played them anyways.

The team took in an extra 10.5 million dollars from their playoff run, however since the arrival of Nash I had not seen a season for the Suns that took so much effort to sell out games. You can not tell me even with the 10.5 their profit line was as strong as three years ago.

Good for steve to go out on a high note. This doesn't completely shock me since I have heard the GM job stressed him out quite a bit and he has a lot of other options and talents. And as stej pointed out there is a good chance of a drop off next season and the city could hate him again.

I'm not too bummed about him leaving, GM's change, and I'm sure we'll get someone who can do the job. Say what you will about sarver(some is deserved) but the team has always been good since he's owned it so he's obviously not a complete dummy(minus the whole terry porter thing).

Unfortunately, i think this does give some indication about the future of amare and his extension talks with Kerr. Hope I'm Wrong.

The Terry Porter hire was bad and the Shaq trade iffy.

He basically robbed the Bobcats in the Raja/fatboy for J-Rich/Duds trade.

He got D'Antoni out of PHX and eventually found the better, more complete coach in AG.

He's an excellent drafter and a major reason why this team now has young talent.

He did the best he could with an average-at-best owner.

He's was a solid GM. Glad he was here for the last couple years.

He made mistakes, and he corrected them. He also built the Suns team with talents none of us saw fit. I'm glad he proved us wrong.

Leave while you're ahead. That might be what he's doing.

People giving way too much credit to Kerr for Suns success. Do you guys know who Alvin Gentry is? Now this dude is responsible for how well the Suns played this season. He's responsible for how great Frye, Dragic, Lopez, Dudley, Lou, Amare, Jrich, Nash... this whole damn team have played. Would Nash and Hill be here if Gentry wasn't the coach? No.

If it wasn't for Gentry, I don't think Amare would even think about returning next season.. as well as the rest of the Suns roster.

I rather see Kerr on TNT and hear him on NBA live games.
