Paul for Nash, Sign Stat!!

Post#1 » by JMac1 » Wed Jun 23, 2010 12:28 pm

With trade speculation swirling around him, Chris Paul said Wednesday that he's open to a trade if the New Orleans Hornets aren't committed to winning championships.

"My first choice is to be in New Orleans,'' Paul said in a telephone interview from London. "I just want to make sure we're committed to winning. If we're not committed to winning and trying to get better so we can contend with the Lakers, the Celtics and all these other top teams, then I'm open to being traded.''

Plus JRich expiring.

If we resign Amare, kept Frye and Lou, wouldn't we be favorites with to win it all with Paul??

BTW, Nash said if the Suns coud get Paul for him, he would expect the Suns to trade him. I can't find the quote, but the real Suns' fans know what I am talking about. Who is the 3rd best team in the league right now :D

Same reason Memp traded Gasol to the Lakers with all the other offers on the table. Nash is expiring in two years, plus he is at the top of his game, plus he fills Paul role effectively until the team is sold and JRich frees up major money, that's why

Plus the Hornets don't want to bring back better players, they want to CUT cost with good expiring players. Tell me a deal better than Nash and Jrich to accomplish that.

But you didnt answer the question...

Its like me saying, trade Jason Richardson for LeBron James....

Why would Hornets trade Paul for Nash?

Why? Please I just want to know why Nash... and why would Hornets even pick up the phone... what made you think its even worth making a thread about it... Im serious... am I missing something?.... did Hornets GM say something about how much Nash would make them money?... why would they trade a younger slightly better PG for an older one?

serious.

So Nets offer of Harris + 3rd pick isnt better?

heck, Nets can just offer TPE + 3rd pick...

Why would Hornets even pick up Suns phone call? when there is so many other offers that are better?

Why couldnt Heat trade their TPE for Paul... pair him up with Wade... if it doesnt work then trade Paul for another all-star + filler + future picks?

Reports that clubs have been making offers for Paul surfaced earlier this week. Hornets general manager Jeff Bower denied that the club was shopping its three-time All-Star point guard, but admitted to having dialogue with other teams concerning "all of our players.'' New Hornets coach Monty Williams said he expects Paul to remain in New Orleans.

But around the league, speculation remains that the Hornets may move Paul. With owner George Shinn's proposed sale to Gary Chouest being delayed for financial reasons, opposing executives believe New Orleans may have to trade Paul and the $50 million owed to him over the next three seasons.

"If George Shinn can't sell the team, I think Chris Paul will be traded," an executive from an Eastern Conference team said. "Shinn's strapped for money. He's going to have to move him."

Paul said he does not have a wish list of teams he'd like to play for and emphasized that his desire is to remain in New Orleans -- as long as the Hornets are doing all they can to compete for a title.

After reaching the second round of the playoffs two years ago, the Hornets have been on the decline and failed to make the postseason last year. Opposing executives aren't convinced the club has the financial resources to build the team into a consistent contender.

"I'm fine with staying in New Orleans, but I want to make sure we're committed to winning," said Paul, whose been lauded for the community work he's done in New Orleans. "I don't want to rebuild. I want to win now. It's nothing personal against the city. I love that city. But my biggest thing is winning." US
Paul admitted that the free-agent frenzy surrounding LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and others is making him long to be in the best possible situation in terms of winning.

"I'm friends with D-Wade, LeBron, Chris Bosh, Joe Johnson and all these other free agents," said Paul, who's in London promoting his Brand Jordan sneakers. "I'm watching them try to figure out what they're going to do to put themselves in a position to win championships. I'd love to be a part of that stuff."

The reported offers for Paul have been rich in talent. Orlando has reportedly offered Jameer Nelson and Vince Carter, though Magic GM Otis Smith denied it. And New Jersey, which has had several discussions with the Hornets, has reportedly offered Devin Harris and the No. 3 pick in Thursday's draft. Both trades would give the Hornets good talent and save them money long-term. Nash and JRich wouldn't?

While Paul did not say anything about playing with James, it's well-known that the two are close friends who would love to be on the same team. If a club with significant cap room, such as New Jersey, landed Paul, its chances of getting James would certainly increase.

Nash and JRich is better than Vince and Nelson. Why not ask?

F@#ck no! Let's see how many tickets Harris and the #3 sells. Wasn't Adam Morrison picked number 3?  What does a pick guarantee you? The number 3 in this draft isn't Durant. Nash can keep the franchise afloat for 2 years with Peja, Thorton and West, not Harris.

That's why? But you are too blind and negative to see that. Let's see here "We are getting rid of Chris, but bringing ind Devin Harris..." or "We are getting rid of Chris and Bringing in Steve Nash...."

Look, if Sarver can somehow get Paul for Nash (which is a BIG slap to Nash btw, after all he's done, yes he did say he'd understand if it happens but still)

I just see about 15 teams that can offer MUCH MUCH better deals...

Nets will get him I think.... if any teams out there can.. it'll be Nets.. because they can absorb Okafor's contract also...

Heck they can even absorb Poseys or Pejas...

Nets offer No.3 + 2012 first pick + 2014 first pick + T.Williams + TPE...

Blazers can offer Brandon Roy + Aldridge for Paul + Okafor..... Hornets dont lose much, but eliminates their log ham in the PG position.

Spurs can offer Parker + 2012 first pick + R.Jefferson's expiring for Paul + Okafor + Posey...
Hornets can then trade Parker for TPE to Knicks....

those are some examples.. which are >>>> Suns offer.

I think Paul is not going to get traded....

Nah man you're trippin... Im not negative... Paul is one of my fave players... you're playing with my emotions thats what.

Rumours says Hornets already rejected Harris + No.3.

Nets will re-offer.... TPE + No.3 + T.Williams and worry about Harris later on....

Don;t post BS trades that just doesnt make sense at all... I mean isnt even expiring this year... As my pos above other teams can absorb Okafor (Nets and Heat and Knicks)...

Again its like offering J.Rich for Lebron James.

That's what I want to see as well - Nash retiring as a Sun.

And he can't be our super nice team captain. I know he's cool and polite and all that, but it seems like Steve was a big part of holding the chemistry together, and that's why Suns basketball is fun to watch.

If rumors are correct, as long as they can shed ridiculous amounts of payroll, they'll do it.

Yeah it's always possible they could trade him but why would they trade him for a guy who's 36 and might retire in two years when other teams could offer better deals with younger players?
