I don't know why this thread hasn't gotten more replies; I love this guy. I just really like to see someone with a personality/sense of humor come in; even if we lose STAT we won't lose our locker room chemistry. And Lawal seems like he may be able to come in and actually get some minutes for us, with our rotation being thinned out.

I agree. I really like this Lawal kid. He reminds me of Taj Gibson (another player I really like). Taj is longer (7'4 wingspan, which helped him collect 2.9bpg in college) but Lawal is stronger (20 v 12 bench press) and bigger (Taj is almost an inch taller but Lawal has 15lbs on him). Athletically, Lawal has a slight advantage with a 31.5' and 27' max vertical and no-step vertical (v 30 and 25.5 of Taj) and agility-wise they are pretty much the same (11.61s vs 11.56s). It's surprising that Lawal is more athletic and have the same quickness as Taj even though Lawal is 15lbs heavier.

They both seem like hard workers and willing defenders (Taj is actually a decent defender in the NBA now) so I like Taj as a model for what Lawal could be in his first year with the Suns. Also FWIW, Taj has a decent jumper after 1 season in the NBA when his shot was suppose to be one of his weaknesses coming out of college, so It's possible we could see the same from Lawal.

Taj is also 3 years older than Lawal so the guy is probably still growing. Lets measure his wingspan at the same age as Taj when he got marked up.

Can't say enough with how happy I am with Lawal's selection.

We could have pulled a New York in this years draft, but we got two solid guys in the second round.

Lawal definately has "fan favorite" written all over him.

Yep, I already really like this guy - and anyone who needs help with the offensive side of their game, coming to PHX is a pretty good start

I absolutely loved his selection when Phoenix grabbed him up. He's the big I was wanting. Great attitude. The fact that he's ready to come in and contribute right away is huge. Definitely gonna be a fan favorite right away.
