now that amar'e is gone, can we afford a solid center like Haywood? maybe a 4 year $32 million.

Why would you want another player like Lopez? OK we're not a transition team like we used to be but we're still pretty up-tempo and I don't see the point of carrying two 7-foot centers *and* Frye.

We would also be putting ourselves in a difficult situation when it comes to re-signing Lopez. How much money are we going to have locked into our C and PFs?

Hell no.

I like the idea of having enough money for a max next offseason. We're doing nothing next year anyways. Keep the damn money.

There is no way Haywood and Lopez could play on the court together. And that would mean sharing minutes between them. Which in turn would take away from the progress of Lopez. I think there are better areas of the team that we could look too instead.

Lopez has been injury prone. So Lopez goes down and Frye becomes our "tenacious" center? for such a vital position you need a good back up. we just need to sign a big body to replace Amar'e.

Well if that's the case go and get a MinVet ... don't spend 8m per season for a back-up. I'm sure there's another Collins out there if one of our rookies can't fill the role.

Quite frankly I'd rather re-sign Lou at 3m per, rather then spend so much on Haywood. I know he's not as big but he's essentially our post D/rebounder that we need as a back-up. At 5m less I'd rather take him.

The only problem with that is that we have begun taking on undersized bigs.

agree with raff. Lou is great and I would love to keep someone like him around for $2-$3 per BUT bottom line Lou is a poor excuse for center. He's an undersized PF at best. We need a body like Haywood or if we can afford Boozer or Lee, I would take that, not quite sure if we can afford either one though.

He's 6'9"/240pounds and has great determination. So he's about the size of Amare (hardly undersized for PF). The only C's he struggles against is the 7 foot-plus ones where he's giving up more than 20-30 pounds.

Don't have a prob with signing a 7-footer. Just have a problem with giving him 8m per. Collins played 261 mins last season and really that's who he would be replacing. If you wanna get someone like Haywood you're pretty much gonna kill Lopez's growth.

If Brad Miller is out of contract wouldn't mind bringing him here for 3 or 4m. He's not the banger you're talking about but has a wide body and a much better all-round game. Not sure whether he'll give the game away considering his age tho.

you know what... I like that KJ, Brad Miller at 3 or 4mil per would be great behind Lopez. he had a decent season last year so he's a hot commodity right now. he would be the solid center i wouldn't mind behind lopez.

I'd bring in Lou in a heartbeat, or someone else but we're not gonna have 3-4 mil if we lock up Warrick and Frye and don't make any cap-clearing trades...
