The official Amare Stoudemire appreciation thread
thanks for a good run.
i like to say it with the words of the british band belle and sebastian:
He had a stroke at the age of 24
It could have been a brilliant career
Painting lines in a school that was too well known
Painting lines with a friend who had gone before
She challenged everyone to a fight
But the people all backed down
And they ran her out of town
'Cause she drank and swore and spoke
Out of turn, she was the village joke
She had a stroke at the age of 24
It could have been a brilliant career
Getting clients to finance her strategies
She's filling time in at Safeway on Saturdays
She wears the clothes of an emperor
But her paintings are a sham
And they're going for a grand
When the dealers come to view
Do they ever see the real you
He had a stroke at the age of 24
It could have been a brilliant career
Selling lies to the boys with the old Dansettes
Pulling the wool, playing the fool, it's no wonder that
He is dribbling spit tonight
And the one he sent away
Was the only one who stayed
With a spoon and a decent book
You can tell by the way she looks
She is sorry and resigned
As he wets himself for the final time
bye bye i wish you well.

Will definitely miss him. Although It might turn out to be a good move for us.
But I'll definitely miss him.
I don't believe many people will know who Belle and Sebastian are, schnakenpopanz

I don't owe him an apology. He was as frustrating as Doris was; I'm glad he's gone. He's someone else's problem now. Too bad he doesn't have the desire of a champ.

Re: The official Amare Stoudemire appreciation thread
I'll miss Amar'e, I really will, but he was becoming a bit of a drama queen at the end there, and the injury concerns are definitely there. There's nothing we can do if he's gonna leave the Suns for more money like Joe Johnson did.
I do think he'll be a good fit in New York and it'd be pretty awesome if they were able to pull in another superstar to play alongside him. Too bad he already had that here in Phoenix..BURN!

Re: The official Amare Stoudemire appreciation thread
Thank you for your game-tying three against San Antonio in 2003.
Thank you for your facial dunk on Michael Olowokandi during your rookie year, cementing the fact that you were here to dominate.
Thank you for your 2005 Western Finals, including your absolute assault on the game of basketball in 4th quarter of Game 5.
Thank you for your game-saving blocks against the Kings.
Thank you for running the most unstoppable play in basketball for years.
Thank you for coming back after two devastating injuries.
Thank you for standing up for your teammate getting drilled into the sideboards, even if it meant you got suspended.
Thank you for being the best big man we've had since Sir Charles.
Though some times were tough, and some issues with your game were (and are still) there, there was way too much to thank you for, Amare. I'm sorry that we couldn't continue to help mask your deficiencies so you were free to do what you do best.

GTFO
He'll do good in New York, dunno how good the team will be tho. Anyways, it's for the best and I don't blame him for leaving.
Cheers Amare, hope you read this thread.

Re: The official Amare Stoudemire appreciation thread
He's my favorite player along with Nash and I'll definitely miss him but I'm really wondering without Nash if his career will sink like Marion, Bell, T.Thomas, Diaw and Q. Again people I'll miss him but if you really look at it Nash really made these guys look good and get a lot of recognition. Also wondering if the people in Phoenix are going to boo him when the Suns and Knicks play each other in PHX ? GOOD LUCK AMARE

Re: The official Amare Stoudemire appreciation thread
I'll miss Amare on the Suns, but will def follow him closely on the Knicks now, hope him and D'Antoni will be successful again.
Don't blame him for wanting to leave Sarver, hope the Knicks add on another star and finally put a legit mobile center that can play D and rebound next to him for a full season. Also gotta get guards that execute the PnR well, so keep Duhon as a backup PG and try to land Wade or Tony Parker.
Warrick wins MIP this year, but we get quite a bit worse. Hopefully a big name signs next season for Nash's last year under contract.
Always loved watching Amare play. His explosiveness and athleticism always made him a fun watch, but he's got underated skills too and his rebounding isn't as bad as peeps make it out to be. Arguably the best finisher in the NBA, nice jump shot, was a very good help defender at one point, excellent pick n roll and off-ball player, and very good high-post skills.
Unlike some think, he's not a selfish player at all. Marbury/Marion/Q-Rich/Nash/Raja all played the best b-ball of their careers next to him, and Shaq had a major comeback season playing next to him as well, not a coincidence. The only guy he ever held back was Diaw, but that's normal since they both played the same spots on the floor.
He's a good person with a strong mental too who always surpassed expectations. First winning rookie of the year despite being a project outta highschool, then outplaying Duncan in the WCF, then making the allnba 1st team right after coming back from microfracture surgery.
He also made it out nicely and turned out great from a personal perspective considering he comes from a nutcase familly with no dad and a (Please Use More Appropriate Word) mom. Too bad he lets em still stick around him tho, from experience I can say that it's best to ditch pathetic parasites from your life ASAP, regardless of who they are. Kinda hard since it's his mom, but still...
First Marion and now Amare, eff it. Thanks for everything Amare, good luck, keep up the good work and hope you'll go win a c-ship with Pringles.

Dear Amare: I wish you would had started playing for a new contract three years ago.
