Free Agents for $4 million or less...

With the cap numbers now set for this season, the Suns appear to have an additional $4 million to spend on a free agent. I know there were previously reports about signing Kurt Thomas, but Paul Coro mentioned the other day that he already has offers exceeding the Suns willingness to pay him. Assuming we find a way to trade Barbosa, I assume we need another option in the backcourt.

Just a couple names:
Larry Hughes
Tony Allen
Will Bynum
Anthony Morrow
Rasual Butler
Eddie House
Roger Mason
Randy Foye
Joe Smith

Any other ideas?

I'd take anthony morrow for like a two year contract.. he isn't our guard for the future since we need a more defensive one but as long as nash is our pg morrow would do just fine in barbosas spot cause he would come off the bench with dragic anyway. **** no to roger mason btw never ever ever.. seems like the last three he hit was the one on the christmas game vs the suns **** that dude.

Anthony Morrow is the only one on that list I would be remotely interested in.

We need a 2 guard who can play defense. Scoring isn't a problem when you run and have Steve Nash dishing the rock and Goran Dragic now.

I like Morrow but would rather have Brewer.

Rich, 14.5 million
Nash, 10 million
Barbosa, 7 million
Frye, 6M
Warrick, 4.5M
Hill, 3.5 million
Clark, 2 million
Dragic, 2 million
Lopez, 2 million
Dudley, 2 million
Lawal, .5 million

11 Players. 54 million Total. CAP is 58 million Total With 2 More Players Needed:

12th Player: Rookie summer-league guard for $500,000 - Reynolds or Dowdell - to serve as third point guard and practice body.

13th Player: Veteran minimum big-man like Joe Smith or rookie Dwayne Collins or center Dwayne Jones for about $500,000.

Total 13 Man Roster: 55 Million with 3 Million leftover (58 Million Max).

--------------------------

What Suns should do is trade Barbosa for CAP space - which would bring it down from 55 million to 47 million - then use a solid 5 million per year contract on a guy like Mike Miller and still have loads of CAP space leftover for future years.

Nash - Dragic - Reynolds
Rich - Mike Miller
Hill - Dudley - Clark
Warrick - Joe Smith - Lawal
Lopez - Frye

52 Million. 13 Players.

Whatcha Think?

I like Ronnie Brewer, but I think he can get more $$$ elsewhere. Also, he isn't a great shooter.

You're using the average per year salary for Frye and Warrick when they could easily start them off lower and give annual raises. Chances are their combined 1st year salary will be about 9mil.

He's coming off an ankle injury so his value isn't as high as others on your list. (I can see Morrow demanding close to the MLE and Mason is reported to have some good offers on the table already).
R.Brewer may not a good shooter but he's athletic, able to finish on the break, a decent rebounder, and a good defender.

You must not know that the Spurs don't want him back which is why he asked for a trade last February. I think he would fit in with the Suns.

Yeah , unfortunately. Miller's shooting with Wade and Bosh would be quite nice.

True, but I'm one who thinks LeBron is going to stay in Cleveland. Even if they get LeBron, can't they sign him for Vet's minimum?

Here's a list of all the Free Agents and their status:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... racker2010

Could we get Bobby Simmons for 4m and would we want him at that price?

He was crap last season but prior to that he wouldve been well worth the 4m. Sometimes when players come off over-priced contracts they can fly under the radar (see Tim Thomas).

I think a cheap C or a swingman is our need unless we move LB, then possibly a play-making PG.

I say at C (in order):

Anthony Tolliver
Earl Barron
DJ Mbenga

And SG (in order):

Anthony Morrow
Ronnie Brewer
J.J. Redick
Shannon Brown
Tony Allen
