OT: Warning On Pages

Post#1 » by TheMan44 » Wed Aug 4, 2010 5:38 am

Guys who use GOOGLE CHROME for this Suns forum:

Do u sometimes get a giant red-screen warning from Google Chrome browser saying the page u want to go contains malware that will infect your computer?

Sometimes these threads are good - then all of a sudden somebody posts something and it goes bad. Like they posted a virus on their posting or something.

Below is the error I get. I get it on the "Suns GM Search" thread page 1 after user "Pidi" posted.

"Pidi" did u post a damn picture or some virus?

Sunsman, this has actually been reported by another user using Chrome as well, in this Feedback thread

http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=1038942

Let's monitor for a response there and if there is none I'll raise the question in the super secret VIP Luxury Mod Lounge over free bourbon and Cuban cigars tonight.

Wow, that was quick - these guys are good. So the problem seems to arise from avatars that are hosted by sites that are reported to be potentially unsafe. Such avatars have been removed but if you run into this error again, please notify me or the Feedback forum very specifically what thread, and even what page of the thread you were on. This way we can target which avatar it is and remove that sucker.

Thx for the response. Nice quick one, I say. Appreciate it.

There is currently a "malware" avatar problem on first page of "Suns GM Search" thread: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1043501

This happened specifically when user PIDI made his post. I think PIDI's signature or avatar has something to do with it.

Send out the hounds to his door.....

LOL pidi it actually is you

Basically it's not a site that's actively spewing viruses or anything but icons.iconator.com has been identified as "sketchy". I'll PM you in case you're not reading this thread but looks like you'll need to find a new home for your avatar :D
