Melo Offer

It looks like the club has had some interest in Melo, and with the news today that he may bolt for NY next year may get him on the market. Who would be interested, and what would we offer.

I put out Warrick, Duds, Clark, Chill for Melo and Balkman. Maybe its too much for a 1 year rental, and maybe DEN will laugh at it, but that is what I came up with. Let me know what you think as far as offers to get him and fit once he was here.

for a guaranteed 1 year rental? Thats all it would be.

I'd just pass all together. Giving all that up for one year of Melo? I'd Multi-pass!

LOL at the multi-pass. I thought some might feel that way given the rental status. What would you be willing to pay Kerssed knowing that he is a 1 yr*or partial year) rental? What if he were extended at the MAX?

I thought we heard about Melo over the last summer or two with the target being using the expiring/ capspace of Richardson and this was bolstered by Sarvers (I think it was him) saying we were gathering players that could be used to acquire premiere-level talent.

Kerssed, you wouldn't give up Clark for a 1 year rental of Melo??? Come on. Melo is a top 15 talent in the league. Even for a 1 year rental. If it was just Clark it would be:

Nash/ Dragic/ Janning
Richardson/ Chill
Turk/ Hill/ Duds
Melo/ Warrick/ Lawal
Lopez/ Frye

LOL....that would be fun!!

I just dont see what the point is to giving up talent for a player that will only be here 1 year. Giving up Clark would not net us Melo. I also dont see how much heart and effort he would put out knowing his time here is very limited. If NY is on his mind (as all the reports are saying), then he can care less about the current team.

You miss the point and sarcasm of the post Kerssed. Of course Clark won't get him, the question is, what would you pay for the privilege of having Melo for a year? That is the point of the thread.

Beyond that, what would he be worth to us on an extended contract at the Max?

Uhh....
I won't give up Duds and Chill for a year of Melo. Sorry, I just don't like that idea.
That's just so stupid.

Everyone is cracking me up....WHAT WOULD BE AN ACCEPTABLE OFFER? I understand people may not agree with the original premise, it is notgreat, the question is to get input on what we as a Suns board might be interested in offering.

He'd be worth more if he's extended. But if he's not extended and he obviously wants to go to NY, then he's not worth giving anything up.

There is no point to give up anything for Melo if he is interested in bolting for NY after the season. Why give up our pieces just to end up with nothing in the end. It's way too much risk.

Melo is a dream. He is a superstar, unbelievable scorer and great competitor. His defense is below average and that is the major difference between he and Kobe-Lebron-Wade.
He can make our team a real contender in a second.

My offers:

Now:
J-Rich-Dudley- First Round Pick 2011 --------- Melo

Deadline:
Childress, J-Rich --------- Melo and filler( Balkman, Afflalo,...).
J-Chill cannot be traded until 15 December, this offer only works at the deadline.

With his rights we can extend him to the max or make a sign-and-trade, with a lot of teams battling for Melo and making good offers for us.

His defense is above-average but obviously not All-defense level, when he puts his head in the game. He can be the number 1 option on a contending team which is what would put him on the Kobe-Wade-Lebron level. The only thing that puts him under those guys is his leadership skills and the ability to do whatever needed to win games.
