So Leinart's going to be benched this Saturday...does this mean he lost the starting QB job?

Anyone want to make any guesses on what eventually happens to him, will he be traded, waived, etc?

I was really hoping this would be Leinart's year to shine, but it doesn't appear that way so far into preseason.

I think it is ridiculous that he is being benched. I think Wiz just doesn't like him he was a dennis Green pick so not one of his guys. I think Andersen hasn't really impressed and Lienart has had no running game during the preseason. The o-line has been awful and he hasn't had Larry to throw it to. He should start the first game of the season, but probably won't.

Yea, I definitely think we need to give Leinart a chance. Like wham said, he's had ZERO protection and was without Fitz and Doucet last week, whom he has the best chemistry with.

I can't doubt Whiz, though. What he has done here has been great and I trust him to make the right decision. Hell..to think 4 years ago that Kurt Warner was going to go from what looked like washed up to a star again, who knows? I know Anderson has nowhere near the resume of Kurt's but we'll see.

I hope we give Matt a chance but also like what we've seen in Hall and Skelton (I know it's only preseason and 3's v 3's, etc)..Whiz knows his QB's and knows how to run an offense, should be interesting.

Matt Leinart is the best QB on this roster. Him being demoted to 2nd string on sat is just to motivate him imo. I'm a strong believer that Max Hall is the future QB of this franchise but he's still 2-3 years away. If he could sit for a couple years (like Aaron Rodgers did) i think he'd benefit bigtime. A lot of Leinart's success depends on the o-line which has been terrible latety. Kurt Warner was a 2 time MVP, a super bowl champion and one of the most accurate passers in NFL history. The offense will drop no matter who replaces him. Luckily we're in a crap division.

give it up, Leinart's doesnt have a strong arm to take full advantage of deucet, fitzgerald, and williams. He is not a winner. he doesnt have the heart. HE should know by the now that the cards linemen is not like the USC linemen- he wont have 3 minutes to pass the ball. He has had 5 yrs and the team still dont know what he can do. what the heck does he do during practice?

Lot less of a joke then ML or DA. Matt is done.

I wanna see more Skelton too, he might turn out to be the best of the crop.

The third preseason game is usually the game we see the most of the 1st string, So it is rather unlikely that Leinart will be the starter to start the season unless he really gets it going in Chi-town on Saturday. I for one am disappointed we didn't give matt a few games to get it going but I'm guessing Whiz has legitimate reasons and its not just because Leinart and the cards have been getting blasted all week by espn, bickly, nfl network ect.

As for DA, He definitely has a chance to succeed here, he has a gun and has been a pro-bowler. He really hasn't impressed me thus far in a cards jersey but he's in a new environment and learning a new system. He never had the weapons in cleveland that he will have here.

Skelton or Hall will only start this year if we are in a bad situation, I hope that's not the case but I do like Skeltons potential.

That article was written before trade to Redskins, according to reports Mcnabb and the skins are working on an extension. I'd love to see him here though, I was hoping we would trade for him this past offseason.

I see this as a motivational tool for Wiz to get Leinart to compete. He was told as soon as Warner said he was gonna retire, so there wasn't any push for him to excel. Honestly, if DA has a great game this week (ala Warner in week 3 preseason game a couple years ago), i see Leinart being waived and having Skelton as the 2, and Hall as the 3. The Cards know what they have in both of those guys and know that they can't relegate either to the "practice squad", cause neither will make it through waivers. Both Skelton and Hall have outshined Leinart and DA dramatically. Personally I like Skelton more than Hall, due to his size, pocket presence, arm and acuracy are better than Hall's.

Three questions/observations I came up with...

1) If Anderson is the starter, are the chances better he plays like he did in his pro bowl year since he will have a top 3 or the best WR in the NFL in Fitz and be playing half of the games in the Cards stadium which is QB friendly?

2) Why do some people perfer Hall over Skeleton, or think Hall who's an undrafted rookie can be starting QB for this team someday?

3) Is it just me or does Whiz have a mancrush on Tim Hightower, sort of like how Gentry does with Frye?

Because Hall is from here. That blinds people. He was in for 4 drives. Threw the ball in the dirt the first drive, threw an awful interception the second drive, had an impressive scoring drive the third drive, then under-threw again on the 4th drive. Skelton had 2 scoring drives in 2 tries. Yet Hall is anointed the QBOF with inferior size and inferior arm strength. Since Hall is an Arizona boy, people convince themselves he is the answer.

Skelton has the arm, size, and he needs to get some time to play vs NFL a teams because he seems to have the most promise of all of them. Matt is good as done. Anderson is underwhelming.

Matt Leinart simply SUX.

Unfortunately so does the rest of the Cards QBs.

Pretty solid TD drive if you ask me. Couple of bad passes (Underthrew Stephen Williams, then overthrows Doucet)..but other than that, great.

Just now completes another pass to Stephen Williams again
