Should El Dragon be worried?
From Coro: Janning's shot looks so smooth. It seemed like he missed maybe one shot Thursday. It is hard to see what the Suns want to tweak about his release but it's just a subtle change to get his off-hand off the ball. He is getting in good work at the point, with Hill even making sure that Janning runs it.

Re: Should El Dragon be worried?
If Janning turns out he can run the point better, Dragic can always be moved to combo guard

He won't even play.

Re: Should El Dragon be worried?
Eh, I'd like to have a pure point guard to back up Nash. I think Dragic could be turned into a pure PG, but I think he'd be better at a combo guard. I've always thought of Dragic as a kind of Ginobli mold.
But at the same time, I don't see Janning doing much this year. Unless we got a diamond in the rough, Dragic doesn't need to worry, and he'll be just fine.

Dragic is too proven and too skilled not to warrant minutes. Even if Janning turns out he can run the point, Dragic could always just play the 2, which he's quite comfortable with.

Exactly this. Dragic has shown he has the capability to run this team on the floor. But, he also has the chance to develop some 2 guard skills as well, if need be. Size at the PG spot should be desirable, and with Dragic, he has a chance to show it.
Really, I can't see Janning being more than a practice/garbage minute guy, if that. At least for the time being anyway.

Well said. I'm not sure how guaranteed his deal is but I don't see any player on a partially guaranteed deal outplaying Dragic for minutes. Garbage/practice minutes he'll play.

Dragic is the next Ginobili without the bitchmadeness.
No, he should not be worried.

Only player who should be worried is possibly Dudley. And I guess EC.

It would be awesome to see Jannings turn into something. Suns need another few surprises this upcoming season.

Yeah, EC's spot is probably the most volatile at the moment. Which is both a good and bad thing.

Re: Should El Dragon be worried?
I doubt that Janning will suit up, unless of injury or a JRich deal. This kid is a perfect addition. He'll play some D-League ball to keep sharp (hes from Minnesota, and will play for the Iowa Energy). He'll relieve Nash from tiring practice responsibilities... and if shows enough promise and dedication, may slide onto the roster next yr. Nash cant play forever.
nobody should be worried.
nobody should be worried.

If Janning even makes the cut in training camp, its purely to fill roster/practice spots. Decent Summer League player... regular season garbage time player. He'll be lucky to see Taylor "Globetrotter" Griffin's minutes this year.

It's not like they don't have a point though. Nash is basically 150 in basketball age and for him to still be playing at such a high level is nothing short of superhuman. Just as we laugh off critics writing us off because they think Nash is old, we can't keep throwing the same, "ash can is still healthy and playing great". At some point in the *near* future, those critics will be right to write us off because Nash will break down or will retire before he does.
This won't be the season where Nash breaks down, but like with the majority of teams, we need a surprise or two this upcoming season if we want to get back to the WCF's.

The Suns need front-court surprises. So someone like Lawal should be a player where we could hope for something surprising.

Lawal has a great chance to be a surprise guy. No one has high expectations from him since he's a 2nd rounder, but he is legit 1st round talent. If he just worked hard and hustles, he could fill the role Lou left, energy man off the bench, tenacious rebounder and fan favourite.

+1.
Cant wait until the season starts to see Lawal play. I was really impressed with Lawal in the Summer League. Lawal is an absolute steal in the second round.
