Think your title is misleading there, Da_Reel_Kboy. Should be: Suns "Unlikely" To Offer Extension
Just because the Suns have signed other players doesn't mean squat. Dudley will get a new contract negotiated under the next CBA. Suns just bidding time. Move on, nothing to see here.

Fair enough Mr Sun. I just didnt want my title to be exactly like the one in the Wiretap, but by changing it, I didnt realise it changed the whole topic of this thread altogether.
Mods, feel free to change title/ or lock this thread altogether if you feel it is no longer needed.

All this article says is that Dudley isn't signing an extension, but there's still a (good, imo) chance we're going to resign him when he gets offers in the market since he's an RFA. With Hill likely to retire after this season, I think we'll need depth at the 3 anyway.

Suns probably want to see what other teams are willing to offer him, and with the new CBA they definitely don't want to overpay if they don't have to.

I'd say the suns throw him a small deal of 4 million dollars annual. If he accepts it, then it's all good. If he doesn't, make him a RFA and match / not match depending on what he's getting.

Dudley appears to be less important than Warrick on this team. Makes sense not to offer the same to keep him.

He still has decent trade value. If Lawal has proven to be legit by the deadline Dudley might be enough to dump Warrick. I think the team that trades for Duds would have his Bird Rights correct?

I'm convinced Dudley isn't going anywhere. He's the perfect "jack of all trades" 6th man. This season he spent time working on his dribble pull up, and if he made the same progress he did on his 3-ball last year I can see that being invaluable.
I'll call it right now, Dudley is a Sun for life. He's the team's best defender (though I have heard good thing about Childress) and is one of those "glue" chemistry guys.

This.
I'm hesitant to let the market determine Dudley's value. I would rather we try to work out a reasonable extension with him now than risk another team overpaying him as a RFA.

main problem here is that i see hedo, jchill, j-rich and ghill in front of duds. i love his hustle and his play, his shooting and his crazy comments but we can not afford to have six players for two positions

Hedo can play the 3 or 4, JChill can play the 2 or 3 and Duds can play the 2 or 3 as well. Hill is probably retiring after this season so I think there will definitely be minutes for Dudley.

honestly, I think dudley benefits from nash much like most players. This season and the cba is going to dictate whether he says or not. I think Dudley has proven he is a leader off the bench but I think he needs to show that his game has expanded and not just a spot up 3 point shooter.

Well, there u have it. Don't say it was not coming.
Suns "not going to give Dudley extension yet" is the start of the end.....just like Amare.
You will see a myriad of rumors, reports, and opinion about Dudley between now and end of the season. In the end, Suns will not sign him b/c he will demand and receive 30-40 million bucks - something Suns don't want to do considering they are tied up with Hakim, Frye, Child, and Turk for a very long time.
It is inevitable that Dudley will not wear a Suns jersey by next season. It would be very wise to trade him for a Power Forward since his stock is super high entering a contract year.
As good, energetic, fan-friendly, twitter-educated, and enjoyable to watch Dudley is - Suns simply have one too many wings and he is the most expendable person right now considering Suns won't trade Grant Hill out of respect.
Sorry, Duds. Your time is up.

There is nothing in this article about Dudley that is news other than he lost weight and trained all summer. He is playing for a contract. We know, He knows, and the FO knows. Sure he might be dealt... or JRich... or nobody. This is just more 'may be' journalism.
To extrapolate like Sunsman begins with 'looking for a reason to squawk'.
Nothing to see here folks, keep moving.

You actually think Jared Dudley will get us a good power forward? He's underrated in the NBA as it is, I doubt he has trade value.

I think I would rather find a piece of poop in my soup than jump to the next page and find a Sunsman44 post.
