Well its time for a new game.

We are looking for a few good men. Ones that have the time to devote to a new Fantasy game.

This link will give you the info on how the game is run.

Its kinda like the Build A Team mixed in with Fantasy stats.

In standard drafts you're always left at the whim of the random draft selection. In auctions, it's all up to you. You have the power to acquire any player you want; that is, if you're willing to pay the price. And if you like strategy, this is the perfect game for you. Snake draft strategy is fairly straightforward: You're picking the best player available for your specific needs. In auctions, you're doing the same, but now you have to consider your budget (and your opponents' budgets) at the same time.

Auction Setup

If you're a beginner, the idea of an auction draft might sound a bit complicated. It's not. In fact, it's quite simple. I'll give you a quick rundown of how it works, but I highly recommend reading your league's draft rules and participating in at least one mock auction to get more comfortable.

If you just have to own LeBron James, all you have to do is bid the most and he's yours.
In standard ESPN.com leagues, each team is allotted a starting budget of $200 to spend on 13 players. Each team will take turns nominating a player to bid on, and away you go. The highest bidder wins, but be careful, a little quick math tells us that you only have an average of roughly $15.38 per player in your budget. Don't worry if you're not a math major, either: remaining balance figures for all teams are featured prominently in the draft applet. That way you can keep tabs on your opponents' spending habits as well.

You can spend your $200 as you like; that is, as long as you have enough funds to fill out your entire roster. So, in theory, you could spend $188 for LeBron James and fill the rest of your lineup with $1 sleepers if you really wanted to.

Would this be a live draft? Sounds like for the format it'd have to be?

I hate to sound like a hater, but let me be the first to say that if you're not actively involved on the board or a long time member, this isn't going to work for you.

Think of this as the Fantasy Basketball Premier League a few seasons ago. In fact, this will require more planning, dedication, and just a general love for basketball.

/rant.

I will be setting up the league tomorrow and inviting those interested. If you're outside of the normal posters, but would still like to participate, we'll work it out. I'm just not interested in a lack of interest killing how fun this could be.

Yes. That's the short answer, though we have enough time that we will plan appropriately given any interest from our Around-the-World contingent.

This commitment should not be taken lightly.

*Edit: I think a live chat room for the draft could be a lot of fun and add a new dimension to the competition.

Any chance the draft can be on a Saturday night or Sunday? I'm basically hammered every other day of the week with school and work

I just need to know when the draft would be. Main determinant of whether I can participate or not. After that, I can find little bits of time every here and there, but I rarely have large chunks of time to sit down and do a draft

Draft would take around 10-15 minutes. First we need to know who all is in so we can schedule sometime thats good for everyone.

So everybody listed so far is in the USA right? Not saying its a necessity, just would be real helpful for the auction.
