Are You Kidding Me!?

The NBA is implementing a dress code upon its coaches this season.

Coaches can no longer wear mock turtlenecks under their suit jacket, as they will be required to wear a collared shirt.

"I want them to at least name the rule after me," Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. "Somebody has their Bird rights. Larry Bird got that rule named after him. I want it to be the Van Gundy Rule."

"I don't like that," Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. "I really like Stan's style. I thought Stan really set the bar for the dress code. I think he should stay with that. I think it's nice."

I almost flew into a blind rage when I read this.

Honestly. Who cares?

I can see Stu Jackson right now:

NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Stu Jackson told reporters in a conference call after announcing the rule:

"A precedent wasn't necessary here," Jackson said. "The rule with respect to collared shirts during a game is very clear.

"Going forward, if you break it, you will get fined, regardless of what the circumstances are."

Anyone? Sound familiar? You could see him saying it though, no?

"The rule is the rule," Jackson said.

"It's not a matter of fairness. It's a matter of correctness."

I couldn't care less about what the coaches wear. Nor should the NBA. Its up to each indivual to decide what they want to wear.

The NBA is becoming like f**king communism.

Seriously...have you ever seen a coach dress "inappropriately". Wow.

If anything why don't you make Craig Sager wear something professional for once?

All the coaches should wear suits like Sager to make a point. They are still suits with ties, after all...

That's a brilliant idea and probably the best way to protest it - zoot suits, neon pimp getups, cartoon gangster double-breasted with the giant fedora, like the old Bugs Bunny character

as an original Grizzlies fan, no-one can match my hate for S Jackson - to quote the above-cited rabbit, "Whatta maroon."

That is a stupid rule. I wonder if the NBA would put this rule into place if it was Phil Jackson who wore turtlenecks. This rule is just as stupid as the refs calling more Technicals for argueing. With the new technical fouls will mainly be called on non superstar players, cause no way they will "T" up Duncan or Kobe or other players that whine all the time.

Anyone else notice how George Karl looks like Nick Nolte in Kerrsed's zoot suit mock-up? (shiver down spine)

Are you related to me? I thought only myself and my brother quoted Bugs on Suns forums. I expect to see you on Thanksgiving. :D Although you could have added, "so trusting, so naive."

I have a feeling that would lead to coaches being not allowed to wear chains and use a pimp cane.

After Miami destroyed Stern's ability to fix NBA seasons and finals, what else was he going to focus on? Making NBA better? Getting drugs out of the league?

This is a joke. NBA coaches dress better than businessmen on casual Friday's.
