Terry Porter Finds a Job

Hey guys,

As you all remember, I posted an article recently in which Terry Porter said he wants another chance to coach.

Until he gets that chance, he has found a new job.

Part of his new job is to be a sideline reporter for the Portland Trail Blazers.

Just thought you would be interested given that he coached the Suns before.

There’s no question Terry Porter would love to coach in the NBA again. But for now, he is excited about the new role he has with the Trail Blazers.

On Monday, the Blazers announced that Porter has been hired as a broadcaster. He will work as a studio analyst with Michael Holton and also will roam the sideline as a reporter and give reports during games.

“Typical sideline stuff, asking about particular players, injuries, that kind of thing -- just the normal format, the platform that's used for sideline reporters,” Porter said.

Since he was fired as head coach by the Phoenix Suns late in the 2008-09 season, Porter has been biding his time. He has done some spot studio work for Blazers broadcasts and also served as a team ambassador, but his new role will see him work 76 games for Portland.

“I'm so excited about it, to be able to bring my 20-plus years of coaching and playing knowledge to the broadcast,” Porter said. “I always was intrigued by it and love this opportunity to be able work with Michael Holton and do the games.”

Dude could barely speak, how the hell is he gonna be a broadcaster/sideline reporter? He was arguably the least articulate professional I've ever heard in my life.

Im happy for him. He gets to work for the team that is in his heart. He may not be part of the coaching staff, but hey, I would KILL to have a job as a sideline reporter/broadcaster.

Did anyone see Porter during the Suns/Blazers game a few days ago?

Was he worse as a reporter than he was as Suns coach? (If that's even possible.)

Yeah, it was funny watching him. I feel bad for the guy and i though he did pretty good for being a rookie. I hate the blazer announcers though, they are some damned biased. I think porter could do a better job than them.

Speaking of Porter, the one thing that annoys me about him is that he has complained on more than one occasion that he wasn't given a fair chance by the organization.

He was a total idiot to build the team around Shaq, who is the oldest and slowest guy in the NBA when the team was built to play up-tempo.

He should have left the offense alone and then things would have turned out better for him and the team.

He tried to fix something that wasn't broken and he lost the team in the process.
