Jeff Green
I really like the make up of our team. I don't think that we are a title contendor but I really like all the assest that they have inquire for the next couple of years. Having said that, I really feel like we are one move away from being right there with the Lakers. They still have Kobe but we were not that far off from last year. What we really need is a power forward who is going to bring some elements that Amare did. There's no way that we will ever be able to replace Amare but we can have a nice combo of players who can pick up the slack. I really feel like if we can make a push for David West, Al Harford or even Jeff Green we can pick up where we left out. My first priority would be Al but I'm pretty sure that the Hawks are going to do everything in their power to keep him. Dvid West is a good compliment but hes not what we really want here with the pick and roll we run with Steve Nash. The guy I would love its Jeff Green. Now the Thunder and Greens camp have broken off talk which indicates that hes going to be entering next year free agency. I love the attributes that he posses heres a couple; Jeff Green is 6"9.5, weights in at 228, has a wing span of 7'1.2 and has a vertical leap of of 39 inches!! He's athletic, can play both forwards, can rebound, defend and has a real nice jump shot. Compare to Amare's physical attributes hes 6'10, weights 233, wingspan is 7'1.75 and vertical leap was 35.5 when he came in into the league.
I know that Amare is a beast but if you look at their physical attributes. they are pretty much the same. Could Jeff Green be a replacement for Amare if Al Horford is not going to be availble??
Steve Nash/Goran Dragic
Jared Dudley/Josh Childress
Hedo/Josh Childress
Jeff Green/Hakim Warrick
Robin Lopez/Frye
Your thoughts?

Re: Jeff Green
We may screw over development of the team if we keep looking for the "next amare". Sure, a lot of what we did came from him, and that's where we found success, but now that he is gone, we need to find a new way to replicate that. And that means not necessarily finding Amare 2.0. Moreso, we need someone who can roll to the basket on a p'n'r, has good hands to catch obviously, and isn't afraid to get into the paint and throw himself at boards.
Now, honestly, I haven't seen enough of Green playing to make a judgement if he fits those categories. Does he play a true PF in Oklahoma? For some reason, I thought that his build was more like a SF, but he played up with Durant there. Remember though, he is a RFA. Also, with your lineup, we do lose our only true SG. JRich has shown to be valuable so far.

I gotta say it again, we don't need anymore 3 point shooting big men.
Steve Nash is the point guard jason kidd wishes he was.

Jeff Green is an hombre...But he'll be a restricted FA, and I think OKC will be willing to over pay to keep him.

Re: Jeff Green

Getting Green won't make Phoenix a contender.
The reason they lost to L.A. is because of size and they couldn't guard Kobe. Green doesn't fix either issue.

Re: Jeff Green
Green is a terrific defender, even though he's undersized he's physical enough to help this team and he's young. Don't see it happeneing though.

Re: Jeff Green
Jeff Green would fit nice and I'd like to get Nick Collison too to help out down low if OKC plans on moving Green for the right deal, but it'd likely have to be in a 3 way trade that lands the Thunder another PF.

Re: Jeff Green
Green isn't going to leave OKC. He will be willing to take less money if it means he plays on a winning team. I doubt Presti would want to break up the trio of Westbrook, Durant and Green either.

+1
I don't think Presti wants to overpay him now and rather just let the market dictate his value.

It's as likely as us getting Horford in a sign and trade.... Not likely. Their teams like them too much and they fit too well. And I agree with the previous post about him not fitting into what we need. Besides shooting 3's, he's not what we need

Re: Jeff Green
Green is a nice player, and that is it for me. I dont think he is a peice that you bring in to rebuild with. I think he is a solid role player, especially if you have a bigman that dominates the low post. Thing is, if we go for him, we overpay for him and I dont want to do that.
I dont want West at all, he is a stop gap that is hurt and is on the downside of his career IMO. Al is the goal for me............but I am realistic about it and most likely we wont get him. What pisses me off, the suns did not budge on the contract negoations with Amare when you commited to two old players in nash and hill. Its win now or nothing I think.

Re: Jeff Green
Collison is the odd man out. They have Ibaka, Krstic, drafted Cole Aldrige... Green is their primary PF. They also have project Mullins
Collison had knee surgery in May. Has yet to play. He might be their best fundamental big, but he is in his last contracted yr. He's a cat we should keep our eye on, if not for a mid season acquisition ( I doubt it) , but for a reasonable off season FA pick up.

Its comments like these that cause me to pause... and think that this site should be 'UnrealGM' .
And thus I am creating a new award.
Some may remember in the past the 'orange tinted sunglasses'. I still pass them out on occasion, and at one point I had to give myself a pair. I still have a boxful. They are reserved for homers who see nothing but rays of sunshine. They'll be back in 20 games. I am just giving people's eyes a chance to adjust.
But posts that have no shred of realism, that are either blatant post-count-padding posts , or wishlists having been spawned from an imaginary stream of unconsciousness.... these posts deserve something.
So in honor of these past two posts about Ibaka, I give the both of you the
Peterpan
... for it is clear, momentarily, you were off in NeverNeverland

What ? Me Worry ?

My Ibaka related post was from the Around the NBA thread from last week. It has no connection to this thread whatsoever.
