for Stylin n' profilin' 8-)

Supposedly they're also used for compression to keep the muscles or joints relaxed and warm.

I actually wear a similar thing on my elbow, but more like a wetsuit kind of material and nowhere near as big. Funny thing is..............it is for my neck...........

I wear a sweat band on my off-hand elbow. It's just something I've worn for a long time and feels weird when I don't have it on now. But yeah, I think most people wear those sleeves just for looks. AI started the whole trend.

Like someone said before its to keep the muscles compressed/warm. I use one personally (Cut it in half and put around my bicep so not to be like "OMG LOOK AT MY SLEEVE") because I have nerve damage in my left arm and if I keep pressure on the nerves they feel a lot better. I will either do that or wrap it up with something.

I think shooting sleeves look great on professional basketballers, but if you wear one down to a pickup game you'll look like a dork. Everyone will be like "who is this try-hard Allen Iverson with his shooting sleeve on."

Yeah...

You actually have to petition the NBA to be able to wear one of those and it has to be a medical reason...so it's not like anyone can just decide to rock one all of the sudden.

I didn't know that. What's Josh Smith's medical reason for wearing two shooting sleeves?

I'm sure they just need a note from their medical staff stating that they need to keep the arm warm. It can't be that difficult to get the waiver. Obviously. :)
