Most of you peewees probably do not remember when he was a SUN ... albeit a short time. He was perhaps the craftiest PF in the league. He knew all the tricks of leverage. Not to mention a badass of the first order. Just what we needed then (and now). Was an instant fan favorite.

Lucas was quite a guy. I don't remember him as a Sun though.

Bummer. Just heard about his death this morning.

He had a pretty good run with the Suns. In a franchise with a very weak history of true (tough guy) power forwards Mo Lucas was a notable and somewhat charismatic exception to the soft-Suns image. An enforcer with smarts.

The Suns with Lucas had one of their more unexpected playoff runs in '84. The 41-41 team upset their way to the WCFs, losing to the Lakers 4 games to 2.

Return to Phoenix Suns
