Marion Trade Proposal

Been seeing a lot of Turk trades on here lately (as in ever since we got him).. I'm in favor of letting the team have a chance to gel, that being said, like most of you I have my reservations as to whether he can fit here so here's my trade Idea if he doesn't.

Dallas sends:
Marion
Stevenson (likely waived)

Phx sends:
Turkey-glue

Admittedly, I am a bit overly loyal to former suns stars and never wanted The Matrix to leave town... But I think he could Start at the 4 for us still, Granted he's not as versatile as he once was but he's still a better defender than turkoglu, he knows our system and this trade wont affect our bench depth.

Marion is cheaper than Hedo and Stevenson is expiring.

Not 100% sure Mavericks or Marion would want to do this trade but it's an idea I've been thinking about.

BIzarre as it might sound, Turk might be someone that Cuban would get excited about - but I would only do it to shed some salary and let Trix retire in orange and purple. I think he has a fair bit of game left but he was not wholeheartedly loved in the locker room by the time he left. So I don't know that he would be welcomed back, and i really don't think you should chase the past
he would add some rebounding but we would still be very small, again

Stevenson is $4.1mil gone from our salary total but we then opay Shawn $7+mil for the next four years ....

nope, don't like it

Getting another small forward and trying him make him play power forward is no different from what we are doing already. Marion is a step slower than the last time he wore a Suns jersey and he is still a bad 3 shooter and cant handle the ball. No way he can play the 4. Not to mention his ocd post game interviews-Know what im sayin? Know what im sayin? Know what im sayin??? No thanks.

Marion has always played the 4 in our system and had no problems. With the loss of some athleticism and quickness though, I don't think he's what we're looking for at the 4 spot.

I was tempted too, but he just signed with the Mavs for $7+m and four more years - you want to take that on? Do you think his body will hold up for another four years? Seriously asking - no-one expected Nash to last like this

based on our starting lineup now, it would be"

Nash/JRich/Lopez/Hill/Marion

Dragic/Duds/Childress/Warrick/Frye

Siler/Lawal/Janning

what a logjam - hard to fit all these mid-size guys in

Nash, JR, Lopez, Marion and Frye - Marion and Frye can rebound, Lopez ought to - Marion and Duds are tough defensively, Duds can shoot the three, so can Frye half the time

2nd unit - Dragic/Childress/Warrick/Siler/Duds -

I just feel like we'd see 80% of the old matrix again if he was back with Steve. He was the perfect 4 for us in the past, and while he's lost a step(or two?), he'd still be amazing here IMO.

Nash
Rich
Hill
Marion
Lopez

Dragon
Dudley
Chill
Warrick
Frye

I LIKE.

The money is a bit of an issue, but then again, Hedo's getting paid a lot too...

Heres how the $$ breaks down..

Shawn Marion

2010/11 - $7,305,500

2011/12 - $7,975,932

2012/13 - $8,646,364

2013/14 - $9,316,796

HidoTurkoglu

2010/11 - $9,800,000

2011/12 - $10,600,000

2012/13 - $11,400,000

2013/14 - $12,200,000

Saves us an extra 2-3 mil a year.

Give the 05-06 forward combo another shot.

After Decmeber 15 :

PHX out : J-Rich, Turk, Earl Clark, Frye
PHX in : Marion, Tyson Chandler, Diaw, D.Jones

Dallas out : Terry/Marion/T.Chandler/D.Jones
Dallas in : J-Rich/Henderson/D.Brown/Diop

CHA out : Diaw/Henderson/D.Brown/Diop
CHA in : Frye/JET/Turk/Earl Clark

Why for Suns :

Tyson Chandler is a better rebounding version of RoLo that would be more dangerous in the PnR with Nash like he was with CP3 in NO (and our trainers can keep him healthy), Suns' rebouding issues disapear with Marion and Tyson Chandler (+ Diaw's boxing out), Suns get rid of Hedo's contract, Suns get a starting caliber PF who already worked great in the system before when he started.

Nash/Dragic
Dudley/Childress
Marion/Hill
Diaw/Warrick/Marion
Tyson Chandler/RoLo
------------------------------------------------------

Why for Dallas :

Upgrades the SG spot and gets rid of JET and Marion's contracts, J-Rich is the PERFECT compliment to Kidd in their backcourt with his athleticism/shooting/off ball movement, and they get a couple young/high energy/cheap swingman backups in Henderson and D.Brown. Diop is also familiar with Dirk and was already usefull with the Mavs in the past :

Kidd/Barea/Beaubois
J-Rich/Beaubois/Henderson
Butler/J-Rich/D.Brown
Irk/D.Brown/Ajinca/Mahinmi
Haywood/Diop/Mahinmi
--------------------------------------------------------------

Why for Bobcats :

They get rid of Diop's contract, Frye upgrades their Center position since his excellent jumpshooting would be very usefull (that's one of the Bobcats' major weaknesses) and his lack of rebounding gets covered by the TT/Crash forward combo, Tyrus gets to start with Diaw gone, Larry Brown LOVES athletic forwards with talent and his teaching should be able to bring out the best in Earl Clark, Hedo and JET are high BBIQ vets that should fit great into LB's system (Terry could even start at PG since Larry Brown's system doesn't need a ball dominant PG). Hedo gets plenty of playtime and touches off the bench backing up 3 postitions

Terry/Augustin/Livingston
S-JAX/Terry/Hedo
Crash/Hedo
Tyrus/Hedo/Earl Clark
Frye/Nazr/Kwame
