Help for an Aussie!

Hey gang.

I live in Melbourne, Australia and I've been a Suns fan most of my life. In March 2011, as part of my honeymoon, I'll realise one of my dreams by coming to the US Airways Center and seeing the Suns play live. I'll be attending the game against the Warriors on the 18th of March.

The reason for this post is to try and find out what the chances are of getting photos and autographs with the players and coaches. With the AFL here in Australia for example, the players are very approachable and accessible and it's not usually a problem. I would love to get as many photos and autographs as I can if possible.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Here's hoping we rain the 3 ball on the Spurs in a few hours.

Cheers.

L2M4G.

Thing on the right hand side has a contact him button. I think you have to have a profile on the website to do it though

Is it just me or are the Suns absurdly popular in Australia? It feels like half the posters on here are from there

Thanks for the tip.

Interesting regarding the Suns. You don't see many people wearing Phoenix jerseys In Australia, mostly Boston or Lebron. No doubt the style of play lends itself to be very exciting to watch, which may be the reason. Charles Barkley was the reason I jumped on board and what a time to do so (92-93 season). Steve Nash would be one of my all time sporting heroes.

I really can't wait to head over and watch a game.

Is Majerle's a good place to get a feed as well?

Why do so many Aussies like the Suns specifically? Is it like this for other teams and I'm just not seeing it, or is there something about the Suns that makes people from Australia like them? Don't get me wrong... its not a bad thing, just something I'd like to know...

Basketball is bigger in Australia than you think. I don't know what made me start going for the Suns. Most of the Aussies are Laker and Heat fans. Suns fans in Australia are pretty rare to be honest,,,

^ Going through different forms I noticed that lot of aussies are bucks (due to bogut) and also bulls fans (started following due to Jordan)

I wondered y u guys choose suns who have not won a championship like the bulls ?

Good to have regardless though

Yeah us aussie suns fans are pretty awesome.

I would probably recommend dropping Jeramie McPeek at suns.com a line, he helped us out immensely when we went over in '09 and he's a really good bloke. He's a twitter regular if you have it (@sunswebmaster).

But better than that perhaps hit up regular poster SDU as he sorted all of that stuff out for us prior to us going - he's the man as far as all of the organising of that stuff is concerned.

Majerle's was great but I think I preferred Stoudemires?

I have no idea. It does seem to be a coincidence that there are a few of us here that are Aussie fans. I have my own reasons for liking the team over other teams, and I'm sure everyone else does too.

...It's not like we all got together and had a group meeting

I think alot of it has to do with when basketball became really popular over here in Australia. Basketball had a real boom time over here in the early/mid 90's and the Suns were one of the best teams going around in those days.

Pretty much. Also SUns have been a pretty successful team historically even though we have yet to win our first title. But I think we are still one of the most successful franchises in terms of W/L. But these days, whenever you see basketball jerseys, it's usually Lakers, Boston, some Denver, some Heat but rarely Suns. I guess wearing a Suns jersey isn't "fashionable."

Also fwiw, I'm in Sydney.

I'm from Oz too... melbourne.

Although just a quick check again, I lived in the states for a year and watched some NBA games and no way got even close to the players for an autograph without risking security dragging me away.

How does this Paul Coro thingy work?

I plan to watch Suns at Phoenix sometime next year... start of 2011-2012 season and would like to be able to take photos close up.
