Okay, after tonight's game, i dedicate this song to channing, he stepped up and played a man...

lol but anyways...
i would like to see channing back in the starting 5, but ONLY if gentry has him play as a 'somewhat traditional center' role. he can earn his current contract by playing the way he did tonight.
robin is TOO robotic, stiff and slow. Channing is more agile and athletic to go up and block shots and board.
so i suggest like the above, play channing as a more traditional center but don't TOTALLY take his 3pt threat away. but don't play him on the perimeter as much.
NOW YOU'RE A MA-YUN!

i love the way hes been playing, especially last night vs memphis. rebounding, running, blocking shots, etc.
however, his shot has been off lately.

If he could make a shot again he'd be far far more valuable. BUT his defense and rebounding have been better than last year at the actually pretty good level

I don't care if Channing isn't contributing as a scorer. His defense has been amazing. Wee all saw that during pre-season too.

Screw his defense, he's here for one main reason and that is to knock down open threes and he cant even do that.

We have 5 guys on our squad that are capable of knocking down threes. So Channing's scring can be replaced. On the other hand, we only have one more good post defender, which is Lopez. And if Lopez is in foul trouble, we have to turn to Frye.
I say screw Frye's scoring. I want his defense and rebounding. I don't care if he averages 1 PPG if he was averaging 10 RPG and 2BPG too.

I guess your right. I'm just used to Frye nailing all those 3's like he did last season. But if his shots aren't falling, it would be nice to see him play solid defense and show he can do other little things besides shooting threes.

I don't think his cold streak right now is that big of a deal. The very best three-point shooters are around 40% (Ray Allen is career 39.6%). When you're expected to miss 60% of the time, you're going to have 0 for 3 days. 1 for 3 and 2 for 7 are completely normal, and not even bad. He makes one more either of those days, and he's shooting better than 40% on the day.
He had one bad shooting day at 0 for 5, and because he hasn't had any spectacular days yet, he's at 4-19 on threes. Make two of the next five, and he's Finals MVP material (6 for 24, anyone?). Ray Allen made 8 threes in game 2 of the Finals last year, and then missed 18 in a row. That kind of thing is just normal for three-point shooting. The Suns are at exactly 40% right now. One guy is cold, and another is hot. Later, Frye will be the one hitting.
If he's still at the same percentage in 10 games, then maybe we have a problem. But five games in? Chill.

If he can keep his defensive effort where it is, and shoot decently - he's going to be a huge part of any success we have this year, and that contract is going to be a bargain
Nice to see a guy get a new deal and work harder, isn't it?

You can definitely see he has worked on his game. Now he can actually post up against point guards.

I saw in multiple occasions where he missed his man (Horford). I also noticed how many times he forgot to box out, which led to offensive rebounds for the opponent. I don't call these "good defense".

I agree with you on that. I think channing's motor needs improvement. sometimes he just stands there on offense too. Channing needs some improvements but in comparison to our other bigs- channing seems to be the one that is doing the most.
