Dampier still an option?

The Rockets will not sign Dampier as planned, with the Rockets’ stumbling start making the short-term move no longer appealing to either the team or veteran player.
The Rockets had entertained several trade scenarios and sources said they had a few offers they were interested in, but either the Rockets 1-5 start or their inability to get a deal done has both parties walking away. Sources close to the situation said Toronto was Dampier favorite situation; although he chose Houston mainly because he felt they were closer to the playoffs. With the Rockets struggling, it seems Dampier and the Rockets have had a "mutual" change of heart.
what do u guys think? i know it says toronto was his favorite situation, but i still kinda hope he decides to go with us.

I was wondering when this thread will pop up.
Like I said in the other thread, I don't care whether he signs or not. If he signs then we have insurance, if we don't then we don't and I could care less about speculation about where he might go.

Robin Lopez clearly needs some backup, as he still hasn't shown the ability to rebound other than wildly tipping the ball around with little positive result.

I would like to see Siler develop, as i'm sure Gentry feels the same way. Having said that I would definitely like to see Dampier sign with us because of Robins non ability to use his body for anything other than being slow and picking up quick fouls, I just don't think its going to happen with $arvers money and Gentry's passion for developing young players.

They will wait and make a trade for a young power forward like Jason Thompson just before the trade deadline! Dampier would be a signing like Warrick and Frye . Sarver needs to stop rushing to fill a position and be patient this time because Damp is a scrub and we all know it. He also the wrong direction for this team .

It's sad to say this, but Hedo seems to be one of the better inside presences on the team ... and he's not really good at playing PF. Frye and especially Lopez lately seem lost out there.

If Damps is desperate to play, he'll take the 1 yr deal we were allegedly dangling.... but he is not the solution.
What he does do though,is open opportunity to include Lopez in a trade for a quality PF. If we want to compete this yr, something has to be done, and it has to be more than just adding Dampier.

I really dont know JohnnyVC... and I'd hate to give up on the boy-blunder. Lopez's contract is not a burden. He seems to fit in... ah.. just forget I mentioned it.
I get the feeling we are going to end up with Brandon Wright (TPE)... once the GState sale is finalized or possibly Wilcox. Wooopeee I'll bet there's lots of head-scratching going on in the front office.
You know, we could have just kept Ben Wallace.

I like Wright quite a bit, but he's another spindly, finesse guy really, isn't he? Sure wouldn't hurt-
Wilcox I liked a lot in Seattle but haven't kept tabs on after his brief, ho-hum stint in NYC
Just watching DLee and Wright against TO - damndamndamndamn
