Looks like a good player. Seems to have a pretty impressive mid range shot too for a big man. Not sure how many minutes he will get though.

Let's hope he's a younger Kurt Thomas.

Is this a ten-day deal or what?

I don't really understand the pickup. It's not like Earl Barron is a veteran player who has proven to give consistent numbers. If it were up to me, I would split the minutes between Siler and Lawal. I'll admit I know practically nothing about Barron, other than he had a good seven game stint with the Knicks last season, but from the video he looks like a thin, jump shooting big, which really isn't going to be the solution to our problems (his rebounding numbers are pretty good though). I like Lawal and Siler's potential, and wish we could give them some minutes to develop, so they don't end up lost in the game like Earl Clark.

Lets just hope he doesn't get KT's fouls called against him. Poor crazy eyes could rarely catch a break from the refs. Well at least while he was a Suns. But if he has half of KT's vet savvy, I'll be happy.

Despite everything, Barron is still more of a vet than both Siler and Lawal and has proven he can get it done in some games. I'd like to see Lawal get some minutes but I don't think they trust him with the minutes yet.

Could just be insurance if Siler and Lawal can't do the job. More than likely it will be like grabbing Jones last year, or Sims a few years ago. Guys with great potential, and killing in the D-League, much needed rebounders, that never to almost never saw the floor.

Spent a good deal of time on an NBA roster and 18 rebounds in an NBA game last year? ...I think that's something worth exploring at little risk...

In general, I love the move just because it shows our willingness to go above the roster min for needs.
In years past we would have been bitching and moaning about how rail thin we were rotationally and how there were all these available FAs...
Now, we have the luxury of critiquing the actual acquisitions we make. It's a nice paradigm shift.
I've heard a lot of people say good things about Barron and his motor.

"I said on the bench that he plays like Antonio McDyess, a very, very good 15-foot jump shooter," David Lee said. "He's a solid post player. Defensively he's strong and has a good basketball IQ."

He played 7 games last season.
Also for the first time in a long time, we are well under the LT. I'm just saying.

From the video clips, you can tell he can hit the outside jumper because his form is solid he releases the ball at a high point he's got good mechanics.
The question will be can he help us on the boards help ignite the break for us and play solid post d.
I gotta say I've been pleased with Channing so far this year in those departments. He has no help down there and he's doing the best he can and doing a solid job.

It always confused me how this guy came in and averaged 12 and 11 for 7 games starting for the Knicks at the end of the season, and no one picked him up! He's 7 feet tall and has a nice shot and plays decent defense (correct me if I'm wrong here, only seen him 5-6 times).
I love the signing. Nash can make this guy into a rotation player.

very good signing - glad to see the team make a move, too and not just muddle along
also not getting stuck with a Dampier contract

Good signing. But i'd still like to see some of Rolo's minutes go to Earl Clark, to see what he can give us.

Did Earl gain some weight (muscles) this year? He looked pretty strong yesterday - I really hope he will be able to show the Suns something and eventually have some success in the league.

I'll take Barron over Janning. Janning looked decent at best in Summer League and I was sort of confused why they signed him in the first place. He's a career 11th-12th man on most teams' rotations.
