Evil Thoughts

Post#1 » by Jimmy76 » Wed Nov 17, 2010 6:29 pm

If Barron turns out to be decent and one of our wings goes down (not J-Rich and preferably not Hedo since he's locked up for so long) we'll have excellent size, possibly much better defense, and definitely significantly improve our rebounding.

Hill for example

Nash/Dragic
JRich/Duds
Hedo/JChill
Warrick/Frye
Lopez/Barron

Might bring us right back to where we were last season

I'd like to note I don't want anything bad to happen to any of our wings especially Hill who has been a fantastic Sun but strictly rotationally it looks so much better

I think we do have the potential to be a top team in the west again

I get what you're saying positionally but the team wouldn't be better off with Hill NOT playing.

we would be better off with having a pf at pf and a c at c at all times though

we can just cut one of the wings out of the rotation but who the hell are we gonna do that to?

Heh, Hill just got injured in my NBA 2K franchise and yeah the rotation is a lot easier to manage now

I think what you're saying really represents the fact that we need to trade one of our wings for a big man. That way instead of having to injure one of our players we can get rid of one and bring in a gaping need on our roster.

the problem actually results from the fact that all of our wing players are actually pretty quality but we dont have enough minutes for them from the wing positions alone

Chill looks okay at the 4 sometimes(a la Marion).

Unless we get a really good 4, I think keeping our plethora of glorious wings isn't a bad idea.

The Suns are a smaller team (when haven't they been in recent history?). I think the rebounding issue will get addressed a bit, but there's not much the team can do, but try. The team's chemistry already looks ahead of schedule to me, and seems to only get better. The way the Suns are going to have success this season is by running other teams starters into the ground. Suns have enough possible line-ups where their motor will be constantly going, while other teams' starters will be gassed by the 4th quarter. I don't know if I'd want the Suns to trade any of their wings. There is an overload of them, but I think when the team is playing well as a whole, it causes a lot of mismatches for other teams. The Suns have tried getting a more conventional lineup and it hasn't worked. Let's just see where this one can take them by year's end.

Here is a question for everyone on this Suns board if Portland lets Greg Oden walk should the Suns pick him up knowing that we have the best training staff or do we pass on him because even their ability is not going to keep Oden healthy? I have been thinking and if Portland lets him walk I believe the Suns should pick him up because with the training staff we have he would rarely be injured and because for the first time the Suns would have a true young center! Plus he won't be demanding anywhere near max money it would definitely be worth it.

I totally agree with Jimmy.......10000000000000000000 percent!!

I dont agree with intentionally making ourselves small. We have no reason to be small now; not with a TRUE 6'10 SF and a true 6'11 PF and a true 7'0 Center. All we need to do is have a Camby like center with Stat being gone. I prefer this lineup all day long for defense and Offense.

Nash
Hedo
Warrick
Frye
Barron

Warrick can guard the three and Hedo can guard 2's (Actually I really like his D). Frye plays the 3 on offense while Warrcik plays the 4.

Nash
Jrich
Hedo
Warrick
7 footers is next best for me :D

That's what I was saying, any one of our wing players could start honestly. So to prevent having to play 2's and 3's at the 4 we either need an injury or a trade. Or to let a quality player rot. I guess the main issue is that we wouldn't get a huge upgrade at the 4 by trading just one of those guys, but I just think it's a shame to have 5 guys who could each be starting and/or playing 25+ minutes when we have very little inside presence.

Hill is(sadly) one of the best rebounders on our team though. We would get even MORE owned(if possible) on the glass without him.

I think our rotation is fine right now. We'd all like a big but until that happens , we have so many combos that we can play and keep us going.

Yeah admittedly I'm speaking more out of want than need, we seem to be making it work as is, but it's kinda frustrating having had Amar'e for so many years and Googs before him and now not having anywhere near a dominant big.

We'll see what Barron brings to the table. Glad we got him since Lopez is out for a month.

I think there comes a point in time where we just have too much talent and we're just not getting our money's worth. We're going to have to move one of our wings, which is sad since I liked Hill, Duds and JChill. Unless Hill retires this season, there's no way we can keep running a 3 win lineup next season without the players losing their value by sitting on the bench.
