@PhoenixSuns
NBA Phoenix Suns
Coach Alvin Gentry said that when Robin Lopez gets back, he's flirting with the idea of playing him and Channing Frye together.

What do you think of this?

I'd assume Frye would play PF and Lopez C

That just means we have no backup center anymore, and an even bigger logjam on the wings.

Lets try Warrick at starting PF for at least ten games, before we change it up once again. Plus Lopez will be out of game shape (not that he was in great shape to start the year.)

It sucks, because I want to make a trade, but I really don't want to get rid of any of our guys.

ehhh I guess it makes some sense but I'd still rather just do Warrick at PF.

In order for us to play Frye at the PF slot next to Lopez, we would have to be acquiring a C or two.

Nash/Dragic
Jrich/Dudley
Hill/Childress/Clark
Thompson/Frye/Warrick
Dalembert/Lopez/Barron

If we do play Frye next to Lopez, that is how i see it happening.

Nash/Dragic
JRich/Dudley
Hill/Hedo
Frye/Warrick
Lopez/Barron

that simple. Lopez IS NOT coming off of the bench, period!

Yes sir indeed. 100% correct. You got 2 options right now. PF as Warrick or PF as Frye. Take your pick. Either way Dudley or Childress will be angry as these 2 guys will have to share backup shooting guard since Hedo is now your official backup to Grant Hill at SF.

PF Warrick Chart:

Nash-Drag
Rich-Child-or-Duds combo
Hill-Hedo
Warrick-Clark-Lawal
Lopez-Frye-Barron

PF Frye Chart:

Nash-Drag
Rich-Child-or-Duds combo
Hill-Hedo
Frye-Warrick-Clark
Lopez-Barron-Siler

Ya but if the rumors are true that the Suns will let JRich's contract expire and sign center Marc Gasol this summer, there will be no shortage of wing minutes to spread around with Jrich gone and Hill retired. They both have long term contracts they can suck it up for 2/3 of a season.

Nash/Dragic
JChill/Dudley
Hedo/?
Frye/Warrik
Gasol/Lopez

Grant Hill Seeks Multi-Year Contract Next Summer With Phoenix

In an interview with FanHouse before Sunday night's game at Denver, the Phoenix forward said he's hopeful of re-signing with the Suns when he becomes a free agent next summer.

"Yeah,'' Hill said. "I like it here. It's a business but I do like it here. I like the team and the situation. It's a little different losing Amar'e (Stoudemire, who left for New York last summer after being a free agent). But I like the potential of this unit. So, yeah, in a perfect world, I'd like to stay here.''

Making matters even better would be getting a multi-year contract, not exactly typical in NBA history for a 38-year-old. O'Neal did receive a two-year deal at 38 last summer from Boston.

If Hill, born Oct. 5, 1972, gets one next summer from the Suns, he actually would be 39 when he plays his first game under a new contract. But Hill told FanHouse last May he wants to play until he's 40, and he reiterated that earlier this month.

"I feel good,'' Hill said after being asked about the possibly of getting a multi-year deal from the Suns next summer. "What the rules will be (under a new collective bargaining agreement next summer are uncertain). They might have some sort of rule for guys over 38. But who knows? Yeah, I want to play as long as possible. So I'd like to be compensated fairly. I think everyone feels that way. Hopefully, things will work out and I'll be able to do that.''

When asked if that means hopefully getting a multi-year contract, Hill said, "Yeah.'' He then joked, "I'm looking for the max.''

Hill, making $3.24 million in the final year of his contract, is doing nothing so far this season for anybody to believe he doesn't have several seasons left. He's averaging 13.9 points, on pace to be the most in his four Phoenix seasons, and is shooting 53.2 percent, which would be a career best.

"That's great for us,'' Suns coach Alvin Gentry said of Hill wanting to re-sign with Phoenix. "He's playing as well for us as he has.''

So i guess its either trade Turk, or force Hill into retirement.

As sad as it makes me feel - the Suns will not bring back JRich next season. As good as he is - with his lights out performances, athleticism, and 3-point shooting - the Suns are positioning themselves for 4 wings next year: Hill, Hedo, Chill, Duds.

There is no way Suns do not re-sign Grant Hill. There is also probably no way they find Hedo takers. There is also no way they trade away 2 guys they just signed/re-signed in Childress and Dudley.

Bottom line: Richardson is gone. Suns will use money to get a guy like Marc Gasol:

Nash-Drag
Chill-Duds
Hill-Hedo
Frye-Hakim
Marc-Lopez

Ok my mistake guys. I hadnt seen anything about Hill coming back to the Suns sorry i missed it. Despite his age this makes me glad since Hill has been solid in every aspect of the game and of course an all around great locker room guy.

Any idea what kind of contract Gasol would be looking for? TBH i'm kind of excited to be able to rebuild around a Gasol/Lopez big man tag team. That would probably be the best center tandam I can ever remember us having assuming Lopez doesnt turn into an injury prone under achiever.

I bet when the Suns signed Chill they were considering this plan A to unload JRich's contract. I don't think Chill will be as good as JRich lets be honest hes been a beast the past year; but with starter minutes I bet he could get at least 80-90% of his production once he settles in. On the bright side having a true big man with some talent would offset that easily. Just thinking about our rebounding improvement alone makes it worth it plus from what little ive seen the guy has decent hands and a soft touch. He's no Pau but we dont need him to be and he is younger so that's a plus with rebuilding in mind.

I love J-Chill and think he was a great pick-up, but man it is painful to watch him shoot from mid range out to 3 point range. I know he has a splint on his finger but still his shot reminds me of Shawn Marion's. So seeing him replace a more pure shooter in J-Rich and matching his production leaves me a little skeptical.

However I do think J-Chill will score a lot of points around the basket once he gets his finger healthy and gets some minutes with the first unit. He can certaintly create off the dribble, and he is much better defensively than J-Rich.

Not impossible but I think the Suns will part ways after the season if he isn't moved by the trade deadline. From what I've read, JRich is looking for one last big payday and I'm not sure the Suns want to pay him. I think the Suns would be smart to try and get some youngsters for JRich before he leaves for nothing.
