Marion in the locker room

This is really random, but I heard rumors that marion wanted out of phoenix (or created problems in the locker room) at the end of his stint there. What actually happened? I heard a less credible rumor he wanted to be "the man" or felt marginalized in phoenix, but that just seemed crazy to me (since he obviously wasn't a franchise player and has accepted smaller roles after being with the suns).

Just something thats bothered me a little for a while, and I figured you all would know what happened.

Edit: No homo on the title

Long story spanning many years of a person who despite being the highest paid player, needed constant reassurance and mollycoddling because of his insecurities

Marion and amare threw punches one preseason over a dispute about a chair lmao

Marion is a legend, ring of honor member for sure. But he was a sook

Ok, so a little bit of that AK syndrome? where a player obviously isn't the best player, but breaks down because they're paid like one / think of themselves like that?

Except replace sobbing w/ being an dick bag to amare / others?

The guy was just insecure. Highest played player yet, at best, a third option on a contender but wanting to be more than that. His career has gone downhill since he left Phoenix. Obviously it isn't Marbury downhill, but his stats have gone down, his efficiency has gone down and now that he's lost a bit of his athleticism, he doesn't really resemble the player he was in Phoenix.

there's absolutely no way he doesn't regret leaving. He would be making more money, playing better, and probably contending if he stayed.

Marion's personality made it hard to like him. And I don't think I'll ever forget him costing the Suns KG.

The disease of "more" never ceases to amaze me in pro sports. He demanded a 3 yr, $60M extension. I think we discussed something like 3/50. He ended up with the MLE and obscurity.

I think he owes the city an apology before going into the ring of honor, but he definitely belongs there.

Marion was Rodney Dangerfield

Still my favorite player of all-time. He WAS like Dangerfield.

He clashed with Amare, and was arguably our most movable asset because of the expiring contract. Wanted a bit too much money. Simple business.

Still kills me that he had to leave. I knew the day he got traded that this franchise would never be the same again.

I don't know what the reaction to that was then, but clearly it saved Phoenix some cash. And went from All-Star high efficiency to good but not great starter literally the minute he left.

Don't know if he said it but he refused to give him the 3 year 60mil extension he wanted. I don't recall what the Suns were offering but I believe the extension he turned down from the Celtics was for 15mil per.

I wonder if he's talking to the Mavs media about how the team doesn't run any plays for him or is making the Mavs give him a bobble head night.
