Heard on the radio today......

Wanted to relay some news I heard regarding the need for the Suns to get bigger on the front court.

Today on the 3PM Gambo & Ash show on KTAR, Gambo announced that his source within the Suns organization says the Suns are seriously looking at Jason Thompson of the Sacramento Kings as a power forward for the Suns. Suns believe he has a lot of upside and that he is not a fit in the Kings system.

Thompson along with Robin Lopez would be considered a quality front court allowing Frye to go back playing with the bench team we had last year.

No mention of when (or if) a trade might occur or who would be traded for Thompson.

The other name brought for the PF position was Brandon Bass out of Orlando.

Again no indication of how close a deal is on this, or even if it was going to happen. Just an indiction that the Suns recognize a bit of urgency in getting the PF position filled before the season gets to far out of control.

Personally I thought this was good news.

Do the Kings have a legit need for Hedo?

Um. yes. That's good news. Very very good news. It'll be better news if/when it actually happens

Their only genuine point is Beno. And he's not awesome. For what they would use him as I'd think so. I'd be amazed if they'd do it without asking us to take back Garcia, which I'm fine with. Less money for 1 less year potentially

Would love JT on the suns, but I highly doubt gambo and ash have any sources at all. I think they are doing what we do on this board.

I'd gladly take Garcia if he's the bottom line in a Hedo deal. Cheaper (than Hedo) and adds depth to the 1 and 2. Certainly expensive as a 3rd stringer but he's not almost untradeable like Hedo. I'd imagine we'd have to throw in a filler as well since there's too much salary coming in and we'll have to use part of Amare's trade exception for Dally+JT which means we won't have enough of a trade exception to trade for Garcia.

? No need for filler. They'e so far under the cap they could absorb Hedo straight up for JT. I'd be amazed if they'd give up Dally in that trade as I wouldn't if I were their gm

I just thought they'd want to add Dally in just to free up cap space while they are at it.

I read that the Kings wanna get rid of Carl Landry instead of JT but he's not what this team needs. If they won't give up JT the Suns should go after Dalembert that way Frye stays at the 4.

WOW that would be a steal of epic proportions... JT, Landry, Garcia? I think there would be no way that happens for Hedo, unless Sac really misses him.

Hedo would help out their situation though, all they have for point is Beno Udrih.

I would highly expect a secondary trade to move extra pieces around after that. Suns would still have too many wings. Package someone to get bigger maybe?

I would be happy with either Landry or JT.

I wish we had radio like this over in Australia. All the U.S.A sports get is JT the Brick show and all he talks about is Football. I use it to make myself sleep at night.

JT has better upside. Landry is nice but he does have physical limitations even though he's still quite an athlete despite his short height (6'7).

No to Landry...

Jason Thompson is a legit 6'11 guy, with untapped potential as of yet.

Thompson for Turkuglu straight makes sense...

I dont think they'll trade Dalembert easily because Cousins isnt ready to man the middle.

Keep J.Rich unless a really good offer comes up...
J.Rich cap space may turn to Gasol next season.

Well, i posted in the trade thread on the Kings board (about the previous Hedo Rumor and the new Gambo & Ash talk), and they seem rather open to taking him, but would rather dump Landry instead of Thompson.

One big upside (from the Suns perspective) is not only that JT is long and athletic but that he has a measley $2million salary.

Who here has watched him play? Does he "beast" as a PF or is he a more refined player. Amare would beast occasionally for the Suns (20/16 occasionally) but he sure seems to be beasting for the Knicks all the time now.

Suns Amare = 18million a year for 4 years
Knicks Amare = 20 million a year for 5 years

Why didn't he beast for Suns like he is doing for the Knicks? Why? Why? WHYYY???

I like listening to G&A, but I someimes wonder the same thing.

They did have interview Alvin Gentry on the show today but didn't ask about any possible trades They pretty much talked all day about a possible JT trade.

Even in the end this turns out to be speculation it has given me a lift that the Suns will try to fix their front court problems.

he is still the same amare. fact is this amare is headed into his prime although hard to believe. I think since its NY it always overhyped. I think he still has a problem with playing defense. Im kinda surprised about his rebounding though. Amare and NY are feasting on the low NBA teams so lets see how he does vs the elite. As for the suns, they should have traded for JT a while back if at all possible. I dont think Babby is going to be okay with trading his bed buddy though.
