Solomon Jones ??

League sources revealed yesterday that the Indiana Pacers and the Phoenix Suns have held informal talks about swapping seldom used Suns' forward Earl Clark and equally unused Pacer's center Solomon Jones. The deal would basically shed $200,000 off of Phoenix's payroll and give them another body for the center position, and add some rebounding to the bench.
The Pacers have been looking for a power forward and when given time Clark has proven he can score the ball, something Indiana would like to see more of from their power forward spot.
Clark has been unable to find a groove with the Suns who opted not to pick up his third year rookie contract, so like Solomon he is basically an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Both teams seem interested in making the deal as it solves problems for both teams; however sources warned the talks were on going and could just as easily fall apart as come together, neither team seemed poised to pull the trigger yet, but there was more than a passing interest in the deal from both sides.
Anybody know much about Jones ??

Nothing too special as far as I know. I just know him from when I was in school in Atlanta and, even when the Hawks were crap he still wasn't a big part of their rotation. So yeah I'd have to assume he's a career journeyman...I mean for sure not as good as Barron, so I guess this would just be an insurance move in case Lopez turns out to be a total glassman.

As a Pacers' fan I can tell you am ecstatic about this possibility. I know Earl Clark hasn't produced much but Solomon Jones is easily the weakest link on our roster, and might even be one of the worst players in the league. He has had a few solid games, but the team has an ORtg. of 95.2 with him on the floor and a DRtg. of 105.0. He is a turnover machine, an anemic rebounder, and possibly the worst pick and roll defender I've ever seen. His contract expires after this season, but you still might want to start a petition and try and keep this one from going through.

Does it really matter? It's not like Earl Clark plays.

If they do that, I am done with this franchise!!! A guy (Lottery pick) never gets an opportunity for just over a year and you trade him for a scrub!? F'that.
He has the most talent on our team by FAR!!!

I didn't think it was possible for the front office to downgrade our roster even further.

Hallelujah?
Or maybe just a smokescreen until they actually pull of the trade...

It might make sense when looking from a positional point of view, but I wouldn't give up on EC that easily and certainly not for Solomon Jones.

I am getting sick and tired of rationalizing all of the dumb moves (self-sabotaging) by this team; and because we are loayl fans we are just suspposed to take this crap. Bye Amare, JJ, Marion, House, KT, Hunter, James Jones, Tim Thomas, Q, and anyone else who ever helped this team do well.
But heaven forbid we trade the great white hype for anything of value!! We can sure as hell get rid of dem darkies though!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not digging the below part but even more so the above...definitely can't use racial slurs here
-Miklo
Dragic doesn't have half of the ability as Clark, but he gets all types of opportunities to prove himself worthy. Clark does it in practice (per Coro) and he still can't crack the rotation, because we are over saturated with wings.............WELL WHO THE F'K TOLD YOU DUMBASS MUTH F"KAS TO SIGN SO MANY????!!!!!!!
Sorry for the rant, but I am pissed!
Dragic
Lopez
Duds
Clark
Frye
Chill
are the only players I like to see play anyways!!! Win or lose....

Solo is nothing more then another 6'10"+ Big Body that is an okay shot blocker and a very poor rebounder ( for his size ). He's not bad...but he's not really that good. If the Suns don't do this....I wouldn't be surprised......I honestly don't know why the Suns would consider it in the first place unless they simply wanted another Big Body to throw at the Lakers.

Suns don't gain anything in this trade. I think it is pure speculation.

I will be very disappointed if we trade a 6'10" kid with obvious potential for a 6'10" scrub

http://twitter.com/MikeWellsNBA# Pacers shoot down trade rumors involving Earl Clark from Phoenix for the 2nd time in a week. Rumor started during team's West Coast trip.
# "We are not trading for Earl Clark," one Pacers official said. about 3 hours ago via web
# @jjclick17 Solomon Jones. Pacers need Jones to backup Hibbert, especially since Foster is still working his way back about 3 hours ago via web in reply to jjclick17
Not sure how credible this is but it sounds like no interest in deal on Pacers part.
